Default 1st photos of the Wild, Wild West

Photographer Timothy O'Sullivan's first photos of the American West in the late 19th century in sepiatone. Most amazing!

Great pictures.

I wonder if O'Sullivan was one of our very own Karp's inspirations?

This might be the coolest post I have seen on these boards. I love stuff like this. I might have to use these in my history classes and show to some of the students when we start talking about the great migration westward.

Awesome post man!!

Karp is way better though, this guy can't even figure out how to use a color camera.

Red Dead Redemption and that other western game I cant think of really did a nice job of capturing the authentic old west.

Dunno but think Ansel Adams might have been. Hard to imagine what he experienced first hand. This guy had to be one tough character to boot!

Great find, Wildcats!

I've been to some of these places. Canyon de Chelly and Navajo country are even better in color and in real life.

Lol, thanks man. These are some pretty sweet images. I have a program that is a dedicated b+w conversion software. I might try to take some of my photos of Glacier NP and see if I can replicate this old timey look. It won't be easy.
