Had this been posted a few years ago, I would have gone with Roethlisberger, hands down. Palmer and Flacco were inconsistent and not good at making plays happen on the fly.
However, this past year may have been the start of the decline of Roethlisberger and Flacco becoming more consistent. As others have said, we'll see over the next couple years. Going Flacco simply based on his growth. |

I hated to choose Big Ben, but he's still the best of the four.

Re: Ultimate AFC North Team: QB
This.
But someone mention how inconsistant flacco is/can be. its maddening because that guy has a spectacular arm and is pretty accurate with the deep ball, at least from Ive seen...

Flacco is consistently inconsistent. However he's been on a tear since they fired Cameron, maybe Cameron was just holding him back, we'll truly see next season

I've said it before, and this is not smack talk, the Ravens have 3 offensive plays. Hand off to Ray Rice, dump off to Ray Rice, and the deep rainbow that the receivers go up and fight for. It also doesn't hurt that Boldin and Smith get away with pushing off and they benefit from DPI more than any team I've ever seen. Flacco is nothing more than average. The rules favoring the offense in today's NFL are making superstars out of the average. I for one hope Flacco gets the 20 million a year he wants, it will definitely hurt the Ravens in the long run.

You have to go with Ben since he has 2 Superbowl rings then Flacco the Andy with Weeden bringing up the rear.
After next year and Andy has his first Ring, then we can put him at number 2. |

I said he's been on a tear since Balt fired Cameron, so far it looks like Cameron was holding Flacco back.

Especially saying 3 offensive plays....this either shows no real football IQ or again hate. Unwitty sacastic post with no substance to back up what you are saying. Since the firing of Cam....Rice has not had many touches in the passing game as in the past. However, if you have a weapon like Rice...You would be follish not to use him. Ravens have WRs with the speed to go deep and make the big play. Torrey was drafted for this purpose. Newsome bought in Lee Evans last year to be the other burner but that failed miserably. Then Newsome bought in Jacoby to be the other burner this year. and allows Boldin and Pitta to play the middle. Again it's asinine to say a WR just goes up and gets it and it's no credit to the QB...... They sure must be some ALL Pro WRs. ![]() There are atleast 4-5 slants called per game. Several crossing routes which usually opens thigs up over the middle. Hell Jump ball? Look at the Patriots game. this was a game which demonstrated just how many good, low-risk decisions he makes. Both of the TDs to Boldin were thrown perfectly, particularly in terms of the position of the ball relative to the defenders. (Q4, 15:00): Flacco approached the LoS and checked off facing an 8-man front. The Pats rushed 7 with only Gregory dropping to cover. Boldin lined up slot right and slanted between the goalposts. Flacco lofted the ball high between the hash marks where Boldin alone had a chance to catch it. He pulled it down behind the trailing McCourty and Gregory who converged much too late to impact the play. Bernard Pierce threw the key pass block, picking up the blitzing Mayo who pressured Flacco through the right A gap. (Q4, 11:19): The Patriots were in a soft, cover-2 shell. With 2 receivers each right and left and Boldin slot right, Gregory, the safety on the right hash, bit on a shallow crossing route by Jacoby Jones from the left slot. Marquice Cole, the Patriots 5’10” backup CB, was left alone to cover Boldin. Flacco saw the mismatch and never made a secondary read. Cole turned to chase Boldin and Flacco delivered the ball high and directly over Cole’s helmet with his back turned between the right hash and numbers. It was about as undefensable a ball as can be thrown and at the perfect height for Boldin who went up easily and brought the ball in with a firm grip. Cole made a futile swipe at the ball, but Boldin was already rolling to protect it as he fell to the turf. The key pass block again came from a running back as Rice slowed down the blitzing Spikes who came through the left B gap. Spikes knocked Flacco down (QH) after the ball was released. Flacco was Mr. inconsistant yes....but followers of Ravens knew that Cameron had one play-calling pattern that was as predictable as mom's apple pie and, also made no sense, and it put Flacco in 3rd-and-longs repeatedly, series after series. I love the having this forum. I love a good real football discussion without all the unwitty-oneliners.
