I chose the Patriots. They want a huge audience for the game.

Ravens Pats is too good of a rematch to waste.
Ravens Packers. Battle of two former champs.

Patriots - Patriots and the Steelers are the top 2. I think New England has a little bit of an edge though right because the Ravens and Patriots have been the last 2 AFC Championship match ups.
Steelers - Steelers are a close 2nd just because it's one of the bigger rivalries in the NFL if not the biggest. Failing to make the playoffs last year in my opinion hurts the chances of this match up happening for opening night. Texans - This is a long shot, especially considering the 3 above. But Houston still does have JJ Watt and the NFL media is crazy about this guy right now Packers - Since 2002, only 2 opening night games had an AFC vs NFC matchup, one of which was the Super Bowl Match up from the season before. (The other being the Jets and Redskins) I think that the Packers have a chance at being in this game but I don't think that they have the storylines that the Pats (AFC Championship rematch) Steelers (AFC North Rivalry) and Texans (JJ Watt) have. Yes they have Aaron Rodgers but right now all of those stories are a little bit hotter right now.

Patriots / Bengals / Steelers: I don't see CBS giving up any of these 3 to NBC.
Vikings: This will be a 1:00 game on FOX Packers: This I think is a 4:25 game on FOX Texans: Monday Night Football? Browns: No way Jets: Baltimore opened 2010 at Metlife Stadium on MNF against the Jets. Therefore my 2013 Thursday Night Opener prediction is: Jets @ Ravens. |
