This was in Around the NFL a few days before the super bowl. While people will wonder if flags were missed, people in general are happier with the lack of plays that were assisted by flags, so the NFL is off the hook on this one.

I didn't notice this in Around the NFL. And I wasn't coming at this from a missed/bad call angle. I posted this because the process seams to have been corrupted so someone less deserving is handed the highest honor instead of the person/crew who earned it. The best football team is allowed to make the Super Bowl year after year if they are that good, why does it matter who calls the Super Bowl as long as it was the most deserving official?

This is exactly what is wrong with the nfl these days. Its more about ratings than the actual sport. It might as well be wwe.

I'm with you, I'm just saying that the NFL got lucky that it was a relatively well officiated match. If there was a major controversy, this would have bit them in the ***.

I mean, 8 for 8 bad calls successfully petitioned and reversed? And Hochuli and Steratore getting black listed for the playoffs? How was this not a major story on anywhere but the internet?

Oh, wait, TV contracts with the NFL...
