Well the more complicated something is the more money they throw at it so yeah...

It also has to do with supply and demand. There just aren't a lot of kids going to college for math, science, or engineering.

I read a stat somewhere, but ui don't know if it is correct. It said that more students in college today are studying sports management than engineering.

I've thrown this idea out before and it usually gets mixed results.

I think that if the federal government is going to help students pay for college then they should provide incentives for students that go into fields like math, science, and engineering. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with going to college to get a degree in Art History, but I jst think if you want to do something like that you should pay for it yourself, or at least receive less assistance than someone who is going to be a scientist or engineer.

Well if they want fast jobs... Nursing Field.. Truck Drivers and School teachers have and will have a lot of openings over the next decade.

But math science and engineering fields are growing rapdily too. the problem is not alot of kids receive enough education in HS to even think of persueing those fields...

Maybe i should go back and get some more degrees math is my strong suit.

Sports management degrees appear to me to be basically a hybrid of business, marketing, and communications disciplines.

If my son or daughter were talking about studying for a degree in Sports Management, I would certainly try to persuade them to pick a traditional field like Business Management, or Physical/Occupational therapy, and take sports mgt. as a minor. Seems like unless you were a gifted athlete on the big stage, the best way into the biz is to find an inroad at your own college, and grow from there.

Not to many people want to be a garbage guy.. Plus you need to be able to drive a Commerical Truck and lift many cans.

Great point, Shady.

My wife has her Master's in Ed., was tenured teacher in Charleston WV. When she moved here, they wanted her to take a 16K cut in pay. Luckily, by virtue of having her Master's, she was able to land a decent job with Social Services. Awesome state benefits, starting pay was 3K higher than her teaching job.

No wonder NC is starved for teachers, they just won't pay 'em.

Nah, most of them simply roll the trash containers to the "grabber" and it does all the lifting and dumping for them.

I'm getting my MBA in Sports Management. The university has partnered with many organizations-mainly in that northern Ohio city (Tiffin is about 45 minutes from there). That said, they're outreach to other teams, agents, clothing companies, etc. is pretty large.

I just want to be a stats guy.

Don't know about obsessed, but some friends and I hid out on both sides of the street one day, and pelted the garbage men with snow balls.
