Yeah. Who needs a great WR who makes tough catches and has SB experience?

MJ will never be close to a top 5 DE, where as Andre is top 5 RT right now. Signing Andre should be #1 priority. Solid RTs are a little harder to find then DEs IMO. Not to meantion RTs are a lot cheaper then top DEs to sign. Franchising MJ will be what around 10-11 mill where as Andre would be 7-8 mill. Dont get me wrong I like MJ but most of his sacks came against backups and he probably not be worth the price he will be asking and getting on the open market.

RTs are much easier to replace than DEs.
That is why they get paid less. I want to keep both MJ and Dre, but if we only keep one it should be MJ. The strength of this team is the D-line, and MJ plys more snaps than any other D-lineman. he struggles for a couple of years because they kept moving him back and forth from LB to DE, but once they made him a full-time DE he has been very solid. |

The Bengals have over $55 million in cap space, but by the time they re-sign their own free agents, cut out the rookie pool, and keep a little in reserve in case they have to replace an injured player during the season they will only have about $300 thousand to spend on signing any other free agents. |

That the Bengals have to spend $32 million to get up to the "salary floor". Or 88.8% of the new $120 million salary cap.
Remember how we though that was supposed to happen offseasons ago, but had to wait? Well, that's this year. So I know a lot of people are saying "for the right price" and things like that, but you DO realize that the Bengals are going to do something in free agency they basically have never done. Spend money. So let me ask you, how are the Bengals going to spend this money? Or how should they? Because, remember, they have to reach that number because of the new CBA.

55.5 is the ceiling, 32 is the floor...don't look for us to blow the entire wad of cash this season, plus if we lock up our nucleus, that ceiling gets a lot smaller real quick.

When the smoke settles from these ventures then see what is left to look into outside free agents. Personally, I would be happy with signing our own landing a good young LB such as DeAndre Levy or Justin Durant and maybe a CB like Sean Smith, Anotione Cason, Derek Cox, or Bradley Fletcher. Maybe take a serious shot at a safety such as Chris Clemons. But a LB and a CB would suit me just fine.

I wouldn't worry about the full 22...a few are definitely history and a few can be upgraded in FA.
