I just finished watching October Sky on netflix, and I must say it is quite good. I always thought it would be a super boring movie, but it was great.

I thought The Watchmen was gonna be pretty crappy until I saw it, now I love it.

Lots of good mentions in here. I'll repost some of what i saw you guys list, then add a few of my own.
Raising Arizona Usual suspects Train spotting Dead poets society American history x (intense) A few from me La confidential Heat (Pacino and deniro) Ronin (specifically deniro's character) On golden pond, always liked that one Independence day, the David Keith version, not will smith And my just for hell dog special: Hudson hawk I watched that one with some friends while under the influence and we laughed our arses off. Disclaimer though, this movie is fairly dumb and goofy while watching straight, we were just in the right frame of mind at the time. And I almost forgot to mention one of my all time favs, reservoir dogs.

I'm watching Stargate right now and it reminds me of a movie I've seen only once a long time ago with Sean Connery and Micheal Caine made in 1975 called "The Man Who Would Be King".
What a great movie and if you can find it, get it. |

This movie has Rutger Hauer, Charles S. Dutton, Gary Busey, F. Murray Abraham and Ice-T in it. It's called "Surviving the Game".
Then there's the movie called "The Game" that I knew nothing about until I saw it and it's really good as well. |

You didn't like Watchmen? Although I probably liked it because I never read the comic. I know a lot of people who read the comic didn't like it.

I never heard of this movie but am watching it right now. It's a western with Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner called "Open Range". What a great movie this is.

You all listed several of my favorites, but a couple more to add:
Hotel Transylvania - one that the kids put on last week. Thought it was going to be terrible, but turned out to be one of the best kids movies I've ever seen. Adam Sandler was Dracula w/ a bunch of other famous voices. Better Off Dead - classic The Help - was pretty popular, but thought it would be a complete chick movie. I enjoyed that far more than I expected. Princess Bride - "Inconceivable!" "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means..." |

Man, I love William Hurt. I think he is the most underrated actor or at least near the top of underrated actors. Funny though, because I haven't watched Altered States, which everyone says is his finest work as an actor. I'm gonna add that one to my Netflix queue.

I'll suggest a movie that is actually great, but everyone knows what it is. Brokeback Mountain. My fiance made me watch it one night because it was her turn to pick a movie. I must say, it was wonderfully acted and is actually a beautiful love story. Probably the only love story I've ever watched and was actually touched by it. (I know some of you chuckle heads are gonna go with that last line!)
The love scene is actually not that bad. It is only about 15 seconds of the movie, and there are a couple of kissing scenes. However, I'm not bothered by two dudes kissing. Them "getting it on"? Yeah, that grosses me out. But the scene they are fully clothed and you don't see anything. Pretty painless and I laughed at it. ![]()
