Default Bills cut George Wilson

Captain, NFLPA rep and a good player to boot.
One stop shop for all our secondary woes.....

At 32 he'd be another stopgap. I'd like to sign someone in their prime or find our future SS in the draft. It's time we lock that position down for 5 years and focus on the rest of the roster. Seems like we've been searching for a SS for years.

He would be a stop gap but it would allow us a chance to draft someone high and groom them without having to throw them out there.
If they usurp Wilson fine. No harm done. You just gain a mentor and leader the secondary needs.

Agree 100%.. This is one "Should we pick him up" threads that makes a lot of sense. Sign to 1-2 year deal.

I say lets do it because like beserker stated above, it would allow us to draft a SS or FS and have him show them the way. I don't know about you guys but the thought of Taylor Mays, Crocker, and Miles tutoring a high draft pick doesn't sound all to exciting.

Wilson made a bunch of plays for the Bills over the years and was a solid SS on that defense. I personally like the guy and wouldn't mind it too much if Marv pulled the trigger on this one.

...I still would much rather have Byrd, Goldson, Landry, or Kenny Phillips but I wouldn't be too butt hurt over a George Wilson signing.

just my 2 cents.

Id take him over all of those but Byrd.
Probably put him and Dashon on the same level.
I don't trust Landry or Phillips to stay healthy.

Just asking because I don't know squat about Wilson, is he that much better than Crocker? Both 32 years old Crocker has been in the Bengals system for several years and knows what's going on. Why not resign a known stop gap quantity rather than an unknown stop gap quantity?

If Wilson is that much better then by all means, but if everything is equal, I'd stick with Crocker.

I'd be happy if we landed Wilson. We'd have some kind of answer at the SS spot.

All of those and he shouldn't cost a whole lot to sign.... What was Bills reason for cutting him though? Salary cap casuality? Or has he been hurt?

this made me chuckle

In early 2010, Wilson performed opposite Mary J. Blige in her music video for the song "We Got Hood Love".[9] He also performed opposite Marsha Ambrosius in her music video for the song "Late Nights & Early Mornings".

He is 32 (only real downside) but they have a lot tied up in players like Super Mario. Byrd is also up for free agency. He is a lot younger and will demand some good money. They also cut Nick Barnett. Clearing cap any way they can.

Anyone know what sort of contract he was receiving?

Other than that, let's get his agent on the line!

He signed before the 2011 season with a 3 year, $7.05 million deal.

Wow, sounds almost too good to be true. At a little over 2M per, makes you wonder why the Bills are releasing him.

Do they have a great up and comer on the roster? Does Wilson have a physical problem that has not yet been made public?

Totally agree, especially on Landry and Phillips inability to stay healthy!

Problem with Byrd, is that it's almost a given that he'll get tagged.
