Bills cut George Wilson

At 32 he'd be another stopgap. I'd like to sign someone in their prime or find our future SS in the draft. It's time we lock that position down for 5 years and focus on the rest of the roster. Seems like we've been searching for a SS for years.

He would be a stop gap but it would allow us a chance to draft someone high and groom them without having to throw them out there.
If they usurp Wilson fine. No harm done. You just gain a mentor and leader the secondary needs.

Agree 100%.. This is one "Should we pick him up" threads that makes a lot of sense. Sign to 1-2 year deal.

I say lets do it because like beserker stated above, it would allow us to draft a SS or FS and have him show them the way. I don't know about you guys but the thought of Taylor Mays, Crocker, and Miles tutoring a high draft pick doesn't sound all to exciting.

Wilson made a bunch of plays for the Bills over the years and was a solid SS on that defense. I personally like the guy and wouldn't mind it too much if Marv pulled the trigger on this one.

...I still would much rather have Byrd, Goldson, Landry, or Kenny Phillips but I wouldn't be too butt hurt over a George Wilson signing.

Probably put him and Dashon on the same level.

Just asking because I don't know squat about Wilson, is he that much better than Crocker? Both 32 years old Crocker has been in the Bengals system for several years and knows what's going on. Why not resign a known stop gap quantity rather than an unknown stop gap quantity?

If Wilson is that much better then by all means, but if everything is equal, I'd stick with Crocker.

He is 32 (only real downside) but they have a lot tied up in players like Super Mario. Byrd is also up for free agency. He is a lot younger and will demand some good money. They also cut Nick Barnett. Clearing cap any way they can.

Wow, sounds almost too good to be true. At a little over 2M per, makes you wonder why the Bills are releasing him.

Totally agree, especially on Landry and Phillips inability to stay healthy!

Problem with Byrd, is that it's almost a given that he'll get tagged.
