Mock based on NFL Scout rankings

I made up the following mock based on NFL Scout player rankings. The number in parentheses is where they have the player ranked as of 2/7.

I would be pretty happy with this.

21 Alec Ogletree (24) MLB/WLB UGa
37 Matt Elam (43) SS Florida
53 Gio Bernard (59) RB UNC
84 John Simon (84) SLB OSU
115 David Quessenberry (117) OT San Jose St.
149 Kenjon Barner (151) RB Oregon
180 Marc Anthony (181) CB Cal
187 Denard Robinson (188) WR Michigan

In any scenario we go Ogletree, Elam and Bernard in the first 3 picks, I'm bringing in
the Champagne early because it's roughly an A+ draft so far.

And if the rest falls like that, lord have mercy on the AFC North.
If I had to nitpick, it's Robinson, but it's not worth ruining a masterpiece.

I'm with you on Robinson. Took him because I thought we should get a receiver and he was there. Plus we could run a little option with him back at QB.

Though it would go heavy at RB, I would be okay if the Bengals were to draft Cierre Wood with the 187th pick (199th overall).

I just don't see Simon as an OLB. He needs to bulk back up and play DE.

Possibly as an OLB in a 3-4 like San Fran but I do expect that he would be a much better fit as DE in a 4-3.

You could be right. He won't test off the charts at the combine but the guy is a football player.

Absolutely. Johnny has been my favorite Buckeye for a couple of years now, and I think he will be a good player. I'm just not convinced it will be at LB.

Thankfully I believe we have moved beyond the Mike Brown days of placing inordinate emphasis on "measurables," to letting our knowledgeable and experienced coaches look at film and trust their eyes. I don't remember the linebacker that we took instead of Spielman (Joe Kelley maybe?) because he ran faster. Yikes.

Simon will find a position and he will be a lot better NFL player than most "experts" think. I would really like it to be with the Bengals.
