If you created and patented a vaccine for cancer, every person in first world countries would buy it until whatever causes cancer(virus?) Is extinct. That's generations of money. Also, who would have to give out those shots and test the validity of the vaccine? Doctors, researchers, and hospitals.

I'm sorry, that was as specific as Led Zeppelin got. But it's the God's honest truth. Hell hath no fury like a woman perceived to be scorned.

Re: Myths you might believe in?
Is this the point?
Quote:
I don't believe in myths... Edit I guess I did sorta miss the point. You're talkin about big foots and ufo's and stuff. Oh well. The things I listed most people believe and they simply aren't true. As far as believing is myths well I suppose I believe in some. Like we only use 10% of our brain. Well, I can't lie. I know that's not true. We actually use 100% but only portions at any given time. However it fits here because I apparently didn't even use that much I. Comprehending the thread.

When you understand the root cause of cancer then you will understand why cancer will never be "cured" with a "simple pill or vaccine."

First please explain all of the other horrible diseas that have been cured. Just think of the millions that could have been made treating all the people polio would cripple. Or leprosy. Or any of other countless illnesses that kill people slowly. So why am I to believe that this theory you came up with only applies to one disease and not all of these others? That doesn't make any sense to me. Second, do you not understand how patent law works. One company will make billions of dollars on a cure for cancer. If you really believe that their is a cure out there then you have to believe that all of the top pharmaceutical companies are working together. And if they are working together then why are they spending millions of dollars suing each other in court over patent protection? Again it just does not make any sense. |

As someone who has worked in the pharm/biotech industry for 20 years I can assure you Fred is correct.

Maybe toothpaste causes cavities???
Before I start in on this, I don't necessarily believe this 100%, but here's an interesting story... When I was a young kid (I'll admit it), I NEVER brushed my teeth... and by never, I mean maybe once or twice a month just for the heck of it. I preferred cinnamon flavored gum and breathmints over brushing. The only time my teeth were flossed was at the dentists office (honestly), I hated the flavor/texture of toothpaste and often gagged from it and I just hated to brush them... To be honest, I didn't start regularly brushing my teeth until 7th or 8th grade. However, for as long as I can remember I have always received compliments about my teeth, and I was completely cavity free until I was 14. From friends, family, teachers and dentists, people always said I have a beautiful smile. I once had a dental assistant ask me what my secret was... if she only knew I was even voted as having "Best Smile" for the 8th grade and Senior superlatives (I'm not bragging, just being honest). However, over the last 8 years, I've had over 15 cavities. They started right about the time I started brushing regularly... coincidence? Maybe... but I really wonder sometimes. Maybe... just maybe... the human teeth start to crave and even require toothpaste after regular usage. After brushing 2-3 times a day for several years straight, and missing a day or two for whatever reason.... maybe that causes cavities? Maybe not brushing on a regular basis (or hardly at all) helps the teeth better adapt to food, sugar, plaque, etc. and the constant scrubbing and cleaning only weakens the natural resistance to cavities?? What if the toothpaste companies have you so addicted to their product that if you stop using their product, even for a little while... you lose your teeth?? ![]() Anyway, maybe I'm way off base and just a freak of nature... but it's certainly fun to speculate ![]() |
