Ultimate AFC North Team: OT

So now things get interesting. But what I did is, with each player, I put beside them LT and RT. So pick two for each side.

As in 2 RTs and 2 LTs.

Ultimate team so far:
QB: Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco
RB: Ray Rice, Trent Richardson
WR: AJ Green, Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith
TE: Heath Miller, Jermaine Gresham
FB: Vonta Leach

Well... I seem to have good taste, according to the voting. Whit, Thomas, Smith and Oher. Pretty much a "DUH", but you never know, right?

This, if it was by what I thought was best OT it would be Thomas LT and Whitworth at RT, but they are both LT, so the above would be my chose and depth chart.

A lot of these are going to be no brainers of sorts. I don't think it's going to get interesting until we hit the back 7 of defense.

D'oh! I didn't read clearly, and only voted for one LT and one RT. It's alright, how I would have voted for the other two works out well with how the voting is going.

3-4. The Browns are switching to it, so that makes 3 teams that run it.

Just let us vote for the players then decide that on whoever your ultimate personnel is. I would expect the front to be Dunlap, Atkins, Ngata, and Johnson.

Btw I voted for Thomas, Whitworth, Smith, and Oher in that order, but like others I would start Thomas at LT and Whitworth at RT.

No they don't. They line up at times giving a 4-3 look to confuse the Offense. But by NO MEANS do the run a 4-3. They don't have the players to even play a 6 or 7 technique. Maybe McBean but he was hurt in pre season.

Until this year, you guys were 60/40 a 4-3. I didn't follow it enough to know this year, but you guys seemed more like a 3-4, because you wanted to give Kemoeatu PT, and I don't know why (he's friggin' awful at everything).

I've got an idea you may or may not like. Why not do both? Make threads that specify, 4-3 DE or 3-4 DE, 4-3 DT or 3-4 NT, 4-3 OLB or 3-4 OLB, and 4-3 MLB or 3-4 ILB. It's more work but that way we don't have to say have MJ at LB in this Ultimate team.

Yeah Kemo was horriBad but we had no other real options with Cody being even worse than him.

Even before this year the Ravens were still primarily a base 3-4 not 4-3 and not 60/40 4-3. 90% of their defensive snaps they have 4 LBs on the field. Many times they give the look of a 4-3 with LBs lined up with their hand in the dirt. But then they may rush the passer or drop into coverage like the 3-4 is designed to do. They don't have enough D line men to play a 4-3 or have any guys that can play the 6 or 7 technique.

Suggs, due to amount of snaps at each position, was listed as a DE first, LB second for the 2011 season.

That's why there were 4 LBs on the field

They also listed Woodley, Dumervil, Pace etc listed as DE/LB who all also play in a 3-4 scheme.

Its not about just playing on the line with their hand in the dirt.....it's where and how they line up when on the line. You have to pay attention to line alignment and gap responsibilities during their snaps. They line up outside of the tackles but inside of the TE. A 4-3 DE isn't strong against the run either and rarley drops into coverage.

You also must pay attention to the others on the line. Ngata is a 3-4 DE and lines up over the Tackles and typically plays the 5 technique. The Ravens NT plays the 0 technique within the A gap.

I understand where the confusion comes in. But that is one of the beauties of the 3-4 is that you can disquise the coverage.
