Default Louis Delmas

If I'm the Bengals front office this is the man I target on day 1.

I have been big on the idea of signing Landry but upon further thinking I feel Delmas would be a better signing. He is a 25 year old 2x pro bowler.

The problem is that Delmas will likely overprice himself and be a late signing in free agency once the market settles due to his injury history.

Thank you! I have Delmas in my free agency plans in the other thread too.

He's only 25 and may come for a decent price because of injuries.

He's a great player, but can he stay healthy? I think he'd be a good signing either way on an incentive-based contract.

But is he healthy now?

what was his injury history and how do we know its worth the roster spot...

See Roy Williams the man with the glass arm (at least while in cincy.)

It would certainly free the Bengals hands for the upcoming draft.

Really believe that the Bengals need to address one of the needs in with FA.

Louis Delmas would be adequately suffice.

Ha, just when I thought I forgot about that guy. He was hyped up for being a Super Bowl MVP. While pretty cool, it really has no impact on what kind of performance he'll give. It's one game.

Carson Palmer, Pro Bowl MVP!!!!!

I don't know much about Delmas, but I have seen him make several incredible plays that involved ball hawking.

I know he has talent or we wouldnt be discussing him...

Im just interested in his injury history. Never played a 16 game season. Missed 13 games in the last 2 years. All for bringing him in and kicking the tires.

But consistancy is the key to success.... And nothing shows he can stay on the field for a whole year.

I'd want Jarius Byrd #1, but 99% chance he won't get a chance to test the market. Delmas has injury problems, but I like him if we could acquire him that would knock out a draft need allowing us to go BPA and add just pure talent to the team.

He has amazing talent and ball hawking skills, but his injuries scare the crippled out of me.

If I remember correctly, he wasn't ever just listed as healthy for a game and was always questionable or doubtful.

(Actually, I just looked it up, and he was doubtful for five, our for two, questionable for eight, and probable for one, which doesn't exactly give me a lot of confidence that he can stay healthy.)

I'm not exactly sure poaching from Detroit's horrific defensive backfield is where we want to go with this team.

Delmas would be a great addition.

However, you would have to sign another vet just in case he gets injured, and he will.

It is possible that a bad defense could have good players on it.

Delmas is not the reason their defense stunk.

His injuries were part of it... but maybe a fresh start can help him. Who knows.

I would like Delmas, but his injury history makes it impossible to factor him in our plans.

Good point. And I think Delmas could have the same type of impact as Nelson. Maybe they still draft a safety fairly high and groom him behind Delmas. I can't help but think the guy would actually enjoy playing behind this front seven.

I don't want to draft a safety as the solution to replace Crocker for the upcoming season, as the defense is so close right now. I sure wouldn't want to draft one before addressing the LB, RB, TE, and G/C spots...positions which are far easier to contribute as a rookie.

Very good player when he is on the field, problem is he aint on it much.

Still would have to draft a SS early.

I like Goldson more if he is available.

I know that is not correct.

Rey was picked 38. Delmas 33.
