Looks like the Dolphins aren't going to use the franchise tag on Smith or sign him at all. Do not know too much on the guy but I've seen from some people that he's a solid corner and it wouldn't hurt to take a look at him and see what he's looking for.
Thoughts? Does anyone else know anything about the guy? Is he a man to man kind of guy or a zone player? |

He can only really play well in press man, but that is generally reserved for our RCB (Also known as Leon Hall when not playing the nickel). Since our LCB doesn't press as often, I would doubt the team would be interested

Re: Sean Smith?
He's looking for $8-10m/yr.... I am not sure I would want to give him $6m/yr.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolph...ay-hungry.html ---"As I've reported since December, Smith wants $8-$10 million per season and he wants considerable guaranteed money." ---"I assume Smith would dispel that concern. But it doesn't mean it would go away. Remember that after starting all the games his rookie season, Smith showed serious signs of entitlement his second season (2010) and was actually benched for parts of that season in favor of Jason Allen. It wasn't until that benching snapped him out of that feeling that he'd arrived did he return to his previous work ethic and level of play. Then he regained his job." http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/sp...-qbs-mi/nTnb2/ ---"A source said the two sides are far apart, with Smith seeking a deal similar to the one Tennessee gave cornerback Jason McCourty in August (six years, $43 million, $20 million guaranteed) and the Dolphins valuing Smith at much less." Pass.

Eric Ried, S 37. Jamar Taylor, CB 53. Travis Frederick, C 84. Jamie Collins, OLB 115. Montee Ball, RB Man... FA has really made me edit the crap out of my Wishlist/Draft... and not really for the better. |
