Bumpity bump bump.
Now it is at FOUR. Caps intended there. Gotta love Bengal teams the year after sniffing some success.

This pains me to write but I see the losses extending into next season. The Bengals are a team in free-fall and they are going to hit rock bottom because all the signs are there. While it is painfully obvious to us fans who are actual students of the game that the signs and indicators point to Cincinnati falling off the face of the earth, it is not obvious to the Front Office or the coaches. The pattern is familiar and it reminds me of the transition from the competitive Bengal teams of the 1980s through 1991 to the awful abyss of the remainder of the 1990s through 2003. I was hoping AJ Green might have an Isaac Curtis-like career and Andy Dalton be like Ken Anderson but the best I can hope for are loose parallels to Carl Pickens and Jeff Blake.

The rest of the season, maybe?

Those two would be remembered more fondly if they'd had a good run game and defense helping them out. Instead we were terrible in both of those categories during their tenures. Now why does that sound familiar?

If we don't beat KC, likely we lose out this season.

Yes, and lose two or three veteran starters and slide further under in the Mike Brown scheme of things (that 8-8 goal that he continuously goes after with all of his wallet allows).

We should beat KC. Other than them there isn't a team on the schedule we should beat based on these last 4 games. A couple of them will be toss-ups, but 3-13 is a real possibility, even though I am banking on 5-11 to 6-10 range with the dead-cat bounce at the end.

Not that it would matter; with Marvin and Zimmer picking players it wouldn't matter if we drafted 1st 2nd or 3rd. These two would draft a bust or someone who think, in their eyes, wouldn't be ready to start until year 2 1/2. |
