Coached DBs in college(Tennessee, Ohio State) for 3 combined seasons

In the NFL he coached LBs for the Bucs for 5 seasons(1996-2000).
Defensive Coordinator for the Rams for 3 seasons(2001-2003) where he had the 7th, 23rd, and 17th ranked defenses.

With the 23rd ranked defense in 2002, I'm thinking that had more to do with the offense and/or ST. Looking at the stats from that year, they were 23rd in points given up, but ranked 13th in yardage. This indicates most opponents had short fields, or kicked a ton of field goals.

I could be totally wrong, but it seems that Marv is a good filter between MB and the team/coaches. He's been around long enough to know how to pose/spin things to the man upstairs while he does his best to keep the players and coaches happy at the same time. It is admirable. I get the feeling that Zim is a much less about stroking the ego of the brass, and more about straight coaching.

If Marv were the GM, he'd still be the filter, and still be a great asset in evaluating talent for what the coaches want to do. Zim would get his rightful shot at HC and his candor would not be the liability that it would be on other teams.

Indeed, if we're crumbling when we give up 19 points and low scores in the last 8 games when our season was on the line, then I cant wait to see when we're good...

Zimmer staying would be great news. His scheme does have the same flaws it did 2 years ago and I hope he can work on them, but no doubt about it, we want that guy co-ordinating our defence.

But feel for Zimmer getting disrespected again. Know he wants to be a HC and he certainly deserves it.

Not so sure Zimmer is being passed over as much as he may be passing over some of the terms, I heard grumblings last year that he had some conditions that didn't sit well with some GMs, he could very well be demanding of some conditions that owners may not want to give in to

I'd love to see Zimmer replace Marvin, pretty much the only hope I have with this franchise
