On the front page but here is the link:
http://www.bengals.com/news/article-...a-2fa323a2a010 The quote in question: "The technique (McNutt) used to try and block him," said Simmons, who prefers blockers not to be thrown into punters. Now my question: Why would it matter how the blocked punt occurs? There is no penalty or anything illegal against it. So why not prefer to throw a blocker into the punter. This would help curtail a possible penalty by "roughing the kicker", as well as increase the possibility of blocking the punt due to a bigger area to deflect the ball. What are your thoughts on this? |

Totally not the topic I anticipated on reading the thread title. But it is Saturday night and I'm hoping my wife gives me one!

Hoping?? That should already be understood. ![]() Moving on, If a guy like Herron can drive the blocker into the punter, let it be.

That is my point about driving a guy into the punter should be praised, however it looks like Simmons will try to "work out the kinks" and basically fix what isn't broken because he "prefers blockers to not be thrown into the punter". Maybe I am reading into the statement too much. Just rubbed me the wrong way. ![]() |
