I think drafting T'eo would be a mistake. If we want a Somoan MLB who is a liabiltiy in pass coverage then we should resign Rey. I would rather take a chance on Ogletree or Arthur Brown.

I think drafting Te'o is too risky. Who IS that kid? He spent his whole college career being the squeaky clean Tebow-like Dudly-Do-Right, only to be exposed as either unbelievably naive (read Stupid), or, worse yet, complicit after-the-fact so as not to ruin his sterling reputation.
He's a weird dude. I don't think I'd pick him until our late second round pick. I would, however, look forward to the rookie camp skits where he will be skewered. If you think Big Andre took some grief for running without a shirt on, wait until the rookies break out the inflatables for a Te'o skit. |

If he falls to the early 2nd the comparisons between him and Maualuga are plentiful. But his college numbers are crushing Maualuga's. And he is better in coverage. I think Maualuga's problems start in his head. If Te'O is mentally broken from his fiasco I would be scared to pick him. But at least he got his national embarrassment out of the way while he was in college. I think Te'O could bounce back. I would be OK if we took the Heisman finalist LB at 21 if our LBs look the same way they do now when we get to the draft. And if he started to slide I would probably be upset if we don't stop his slide at 37. He really could just be a young dumb internet kid who is good at football. |

I have seen some talking about him and Ray Lewis and Ray making his living in between the hashes. Can not argue that because that is how Ray made his name. Unfortunately that NFL is fading fast. That is why Ray dropped the weight he did this season. He knew he was a liability in coverage. I think Ray also realized that the dropped weight was not enough which may have factored to his retirement. This is why I do not like this draft selection. I would prefer to see Burfict move to the middle for this team. I think the coverage experience he gained at WLB was invaluable to his progression. While he may not be the best coverage LB in the world I do feel he showed progression thru the season and I did not see anything that would lead me to believe that it is a part of his game he cannot continue to improve.

I believe in 2nd chances, but his situation is so messy that I'd rather have one of the comparable LBs than bring this circus to Cincy. I would say it would take a national TV interview to clear things up but I don't know how you undo the Couric interview, especially through a couple 5 minute conversations with Marvin Lewis. This is just Walter being a clown.

I tried to think of a player in this draft who could help the Bengals more than T'eo and there aren't many. If we pass on T'eo, someone's not doing their homework. He had a rotten game. If we passed on every player who played a bad game our roster would be empty. He Played badly for three reasons.
1. He had all the fake GF stuff going on. 2. He was playing a team that has THREE OL that could be drafted in the fist round this year and another that many think is better who will be drafted in the first round next year. 3. The RB has been mocked to the Bengals in round one and he also might be the second best RB at Alabama. Players slide for all sorts of reasons but I feel T'eo has the talent to be one of the top ten players in the draft and if he falls, we should sprint to the podium with the pick. I tried to think of a player in this draft who could help the Bengals more than T'eo and there aren't many. |
