Default Work *****

Many of you may know that I just started my first full time job. I am in an MIS department at a company. After the college life and having the summer off, I need to vent. I have to wake up at 7 am, drive about 40 minutes to work each day, and work until 5. I know I maybe acting like a huge baby amd I am fortunate to have such a great job, but im not gonna lie, its a totally different lifestyle than I am used to and I am getting kind of depressed. I know I just have to get used to the continuous cycle but it has been a tough lifestyle change. I am constantly tired and feel like I have zero free time.

I am truely happy to have the job I have, but jeez, this has got to get easier!

Dude welcome to life. J/P did you get your first big paycheck yet because that is when it really pays off. Sike, then you realize you work for the government and your benefits eat up a chunk of your check.

Dude. I work from 3 PM til 2 AM. I wake up at 8AM because my 2 YO daughter is knocking on my head and wants to play "Kitchen" My wife goes to work at 9. I watch my daughter til 2PM and then I drop her off at my mother in Laws. Also on Saturdays my wife works from 8-6 and I watch my daughter the whole time and she doesn't give me a break for a second. ( I got her to like Football tho so I can watch UC she cheers and gives me a high five when they score)

You should be extremely thankful that #1 you have a job and #2 you have time to yourself from 5- whenever you go to bed. Cuz once you get married and have kids time is an Illusion. Seriously. If you are lucky to have 2 hours to yourself they seems like 2 minutes. Enjoy those few hours now dude. It doesn't get any better at all.

I absolutely hated my life when I was in the wrong career field (law enforcement). I

had to do something else or I wasn't ever going to be happy. So I decided to change

career fields because I believe in the saying that goes: If you make a living doing

something you love, you'll never work a day in your life. So now I've been in school

for over 2 years, just got accepted to UC's chemical engineering program and I've

never been happier with my decision. Science has always interested me, rarely bores me and there

will always be more to learn. Hang in there buddy.

Let me put it to you this way...it could be worse.

I am presently employed at a multi-national language learning software corporation in the main office as a tax accountant. There are three of us to focus on everything but income tax (meaning sales/use, VAT, property taxes, etc.). I work anywhere from 45-60 hours a week depending on the time of the month and the year.

I am also currently a full-time student. When I lave work, I head to class. I am holding down 12 credit hours in evening classes.

You want to talk about no time? Yeah, it *****. But I'm grinding through it now because it will all be worth it later.

No offense because I know it is a culture shock for you but stfu. There are millions who would kill to be in your shoes right now, so forgive me for not throwing you the pity party but I can't feel sorry for someone who has to do what millions are already doing.

Doesn't the money in your pocket help to ease the depression of the work-day cycle?? Or would you rather be a poor-as-**** student again?

Perhaps you need to look at ways to adjust your sleep schedule and diet to keep your energy level up. I do agree that the 40 min commute is a killer. If you were only 10 min from work, that would give you an extra hour in each day....

Yeah, commute is one thing that saves me time like no other. I live two blocks away from my work.

I graduated from that program. Watch out for Chem E Thermodynamics. That was one of the toughest classes I ever took.

A 40 minute commute isn't really all that bad. I drove 90 minutes each way for 6 years. That was hideous.

It will. Life changes are always a little tough. But no whining, you have a job. There are millions of people out there who wish they did, my wife being one of them.

Welcome to the next 30 years. **** it up.

I get up at 5:30, get to work between 715/730 after and hour commute and get home between 5:00-8:00 depending on the day. I don't get paid hourly however.
