Fact of the matter is that if he made the tackle and was injured the same people whining that he did not attempt the tackle are the same people that would be calling him out for making a stupid decision and getting injured when we are in a playoff run.

Not whining, just stating what Andrew Luck would do. Did you have any problem with him diving for the TD at the end of the Chargers game? Could have easily injured himself. Woulda been safer just to throw it out of the back of the endzone.

Same folks talking about how smart it was not to go for the tackle are the same ones cheering when he sold out and dove into the endzone.

There's an old saying in football. The easiest way to get hurt is to try not to.

Default Dalton getting drilled on NFL Live

They were talking about the pick 6 when Dalton was right there to make the tackle but chose to let the runner go. Before the play they showed the rookie QBs going for the big hits after they threw INTs. I guess Dalton has learned his lesson on being a franchise QB and not a rookie trying to find his place in the NFL. I will always remember that Jacksonville last year when Dalton flipped the Jags player and helped hold them to a FG.

I don't know if you are calling Dalton a whip are saying he made the right decision.
I remember someone made a thread earlier this week whining about Dalton not blowing the DEF player up when he could have.

I'm all for him protecting himself. Idc if NFL Live or other people get mad at Dalton for not going after the guy. He did what he had to do to win the game. He sacrificed his body on the TD dive knowing he could be nailed. I'd rather him sacrifice it there and get us the points back than sacrifice it earlier and lose him for the game or season...

No I'm not calling him a wimp. Dalton made the right decision in my mind. If it was late in the 4th then he would've laid the wood. Dalton is the franchise QB and needs to protect himself.

Good to hear I agree with you. I've seen Dalton lay the wood on people. He can and he would in the 4th if it meant the game but they had plenty of time left. +1 rep

People will look for any reason to hate on the Bengals for anything.

It was a smart move because defenders immediately look for the quarterback to blindside when there's an interception.

Know what's hilarious? Not only would TO give up on catchable balls that just required him to break off his route or go up for a jump ball, he had no reason not to go after defenders when they'd intercept the ball, but the people on NFL didn't say anything because the Bengals weren't relevant and TO's a big media name.

They only pick on Andy because he's a ginger.

It's funny they don't bring up what happens AFTER the play. When Cam "Superman" Newton is on the sidelines with his head buried in his towel, Dalton is rallying the troops for a comeback.

Swallow THAT pill NFLN.

People like myself who've played organize football know that tackling involves technique and mental aggressiveness. QBs and Kickers don't train to tackle or hit. They don't need that kind of toughness to do their jobs.

There's an old saying in football. The easiest way to get hurt is to try not to.
first off both of those luck tackles the runner was not going full speed with a blocker so they are completely different situations...

second the reason people are happy with the dive into the endzone and also happy he didn't make that tackle is because, the interception was in the second quarter and it only put them up by 4, the dive came on a go-ahead drive with no one actually that close to him, also said drive won us the game and helped us move deeper into the playoff race.
Same folks talking about how smart it was not to go for the tackle are the same ones cheering when he sold out and dove into the endzone.

Ok, hypocrites Tom Brady just made TD saving tackle on Rodgers of the 49ers.

The 49ers then turned the ball right over to the Patriots.

I guess Tom Brady could do that but Dalton can't

Dalton definitely should have tried to make that tackle.....the play was still alive. He's a football player, he needs to try to make the play.
