Whitworth goes up to him, then Houston headbutts him, prompting Whitworth to grab him, then Kelly just runs in off the bench for no reason.

Dunlap tries to pull people off.

It is absolutely NOT the homer in me, but it looks like not one Bengal did any provoking lol.
Then the league will fine Houston for his "killing Andy". I don't see it.
What I will see are fines for fighting.

I love the quote but in all honesty, I thought the move by Whitworth was boneheaded and idiotic. I'll remember this quote as Dalton gets destroyed on his blind side.

Have to agree.

I like the attitude and the concept of backing your QB, but cooler heads have to prevail. The Bengals are fighting against the odds for a shot at the post season, and losing Whit for any number of games could be costly.

And don't tell me Collins can fill in, because he cannot. If he were half the tackle Whitworth was, then Mikey would let Whit walk and make Collins the man, see big Willie for details. Right now, the Bengals need to be clicking on all cylinders and secure every win, no matter how trivial the opponent seems.

Whatever protection Whit showed on Sunday in defending Dalton, will be negated 100-fold if Collins has to play LT for a game.

Big picture.

All I hear [on this thread] that it a missed call. No one is talking about a fine on Houston over his tackle of Dalton. Guess what? That is how it works, whether or not the refs miss a call, the league don't.

Look for Whitworth and Houston to get fined for fighting. Whitworth will get more because it is his second offense. But don't look for a fine on Houston for tackling Dalton, why? Because it was not a cheap shot.

You think the NFL fines other players every week for excessive tackles and hits. And they would not do it to an Oakland Freaking Raider????

The team that led the league for years with penalty's

This would not be an exception, except in the minds of people with rose colored glasses.
I'm pretty sure it was me. I remember doing the typing.

Also pretty sure none of us are trained officials. Therefore, we're giving opinions. Whatever the league does will not affect my opinion. I saw what I saw. I saw a play that I have seen flagged MANY times. I have seen LESSER plays flagged many times.

Not throwing a flag was payback to the Raiders for blowing the earlier call. You call it what you want. I know exactly what it was.

The whistle had blown, Houston took at least a tep to get to him, then not only took him down but threw him down. If the league is not looking at fining him, then they're just embarrassing themselves.

Of course he won't get fined.

Newman didn't get fined this year, did he?

What does it have to do with the fact that he threw him down when he shouldn't have.

There wasn't one whistle; there were multiple. His man disengaged in a pass blocking situation. Why would he do that?

I played college football at Hofstra University.

If the play was a cheap shot, then look for the league to fine Houston, specifically for the hit on Dalton.

There ya go. You know what I;'m talking about. Sometimes it seems like the league hands out its rulings based on moods and whims.

Yeah, because post count determines intelligence. Not the fact that I only post when I have something to say on a subject instead of just repeating something that's been said a bunch in the same thread. So forgive me for not having thousands of posts to validate my accusation. I must have missed the memo that my opinions don't count because I only read most of the time instead of posting mindless dribble... you know, like you.

Haha, now we are delving into intelligence.

I would not tread here my friend.

In other words don't go there.
En d'autres termes ne va pas la !
En otras palabras no ir alli!

I will pass on the "mindless dribble" comment you said this time, because I am in a good mood[Bengals won, Squealers lost, Giants won].

Ooh. Me so smart me talks in other languages lol. Just giving you a hard time man. We differ in opinion. The only difference is I realize they are both opinions, whereas you actually seem to think yours is fact. I was there when it happened and had it recorded at home and I'm telling you it was a late hit. Players don't always get fined for a late hit otherwise there would be even more than there already have been.

When your QB gets slung to the ground 3 or 4 seconds after the whistle has blown and all other players have stopped, you feel it's not a dirty play ? Glad you're not one of our linemen.

I'm glad Whit wears Bengals glasses !

seriously.

it's ridiculous to try to defend that hit, there's no question it was provoked by the blown call the play before.

also, bengalyankee you use more emoticons than a 12 year old girl dude, this is an NFL message board, not hello kitty island adventure.

but yeah, bring up my post count, lol.

the play went little to far first off, linemen always protect there QB its in there blood i see linemen always give a little shoulder whack after the play when they fill there QB has been harmed after play. The play was between whitworth and houston thats it not the whole entire oakland team!!!!! No one knows what was said during game or anything else like that for what I saw Whitworth was Protected my man Dalton!

who knows what if Dalton got hurt on that play!

Never defended the tackle genius, only stated that it was not a dirty play. No flags, no league fines from the league, only whining comments, like from you.

The play on Dalton from Sur was dirty where...

1. You had a flag thrown
2. Sur was fined by the league
3. First Pre-season game, yet it made all the media.
http://news.yahoo.com/nfl-fines-lion...191421035.html
4. Detroit's own announcer said it was a bad play by Sur.
5. Au contraire, the CBS "National Announcers" never called it a cheap shot.
6. National media has not called the play by Houston on Dalton a cheap shot.

For the record, I think the play of Heinz Ward on Keith Rivers was dirty cheap shot as well as Sur's hit on Dalton. The Bengals faced both the Steelers and the Lions[preseason] without retaliation and that has made me sick to my bones. Especially after reading that Ward would have done it again to Rivers, before Ward retired.

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sport...h-rivers_N.htm

The following was my first post of this thread and I never defended the tackle. I just said it was not dirty. If it was dirty then the referees AND/OR more importantly the league would fine Houston for the tackle on Dalton.
