Whalen was the deep guy in the victory formation.

Sanu has the ability to be a TJ type WR, but even better. Jones has the ability to be better than Henry, because he can be a full time #2 WR. I would have Charles as the FB/TE like how the Pats and Saints use their TE. Charles will be a better blocker than Gresham. and seems to have more HEART! I would have also traded for Chris Ivory. Did you see his 56 yard run for a TD yesterday. That is why I wanted him. He could replace BJGE as our every down back and would fit the system above perfectly.

Tate had 21/59 snaps, 36%. Sanu had 36/59 snaps, 61% Green had 55/59 snaps, 93%. Hawkins had 24/59 snaps, 41%. Whalen had 4/59 snaps, 7%. Gresham had 58/59 snaps, 98% Charles had 26/59 snaps, 44%. Dennis Roland had 1/59 snaps, 2%. Marvin Jones DNP. Binns DNP. I would guess that the Bengals feel that Whalen is more of a "slot" receiver. http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=321111004 Tate was targeted 1 time and had 0 catches. Per Artrell Hawkins, Tate had a key block to extend the play that was the AJ Green 51 yard TD pass. We need Marvin Jones to get healthy. Let Tate return kickoffs and let Pacman return punts. And he saw a snap in garbage time on run blocks, and the victory formation. Tate has seen how many snaps? 177. That number should be 0. Whalen has seen 37; should be a lot higher.

As far as context goes, only one of his catches even resulted in a 1st down. He didn't catch a ball on 3rd down. There's a reason why the guy has slid down the depth chart into the abyss, and that's that he simply isn't that good. He hasn't looked as good as Jones or Sanu, and sadly,at least teams have to respect Tate deep. Whalen has no deep speed to back DB's off. He is a possession receiver who doesn't move the chains. He has no moves in the open field at all. |

Re: Can they please start SANU at WR vs Giants.
I like what I saw out of Sanu yesterday. He seems to catch the ball with authority which helps make up for his average speed. His versatility is unmatched, they can flex him in the backfield and hand off to him and we all saw he can throw the football exceptionally in trick plays. He runs well with the ball in his hands, presumably from running the wildcat so often in college. And what doesn't get noticed as much is his physicality when he blocks. I mean I don't know how many times I saw in the first half of the season Binns coming in motion and being asked to block a LB on a running play. My God, everyone knows that Sanu would be better suited for such a playcall. I like this kid

Let's be honest, no defense respects Tate - you have to run correct patterns and actually catch the ball to get respect. Simply being fast doesn't do it. Sanu even being a bit slower will demand respect because he is big, tough, runs patterns right and catches the ball.

Whoever did the thread... Nice call. :).
sanu is supposedly a bad practice guy. But these plays will move him past Tate and binns only a matter of time till he and jones are competing for #2
