He's from Paducah, KY too. Would be closer to home.

Id be stoked to get George Wilson and then draft Vaccaro, Rambo, Elam, or Reid as well...

Also from the Bills Id be open to looking at Nick Barrett...another stop-gap player, but could hold us over at Weak side LB until we groom someone at that position as well

He's long in the tooth, but at this point Wilson would be a better option at corner than Clements.

Agreed, either pick up Byrd, Goldson, Quin, or draft someone early. A 32 year old safety is the last thing the Bengals need. They need to get younger in the secondary after their starting secondary was something like a combined 123 years old in 2012. That's not okay.

Nick Barnett is just an older, slightly worse version of Thomas Howard... I say slightly worse only because Howard already knows Zimmer's defense. Otherwise it might be a wash. Would rather just keep Howard so he can groom the future WLB.

2013 Outside FA Wishlist:
Chris Ivory, RB (Trade a 5th for him.)

2013 Mock Draft:
21. Eric Ried, S
37. Jamar Taylor, CB
53. Travis Frederick, C
84. Jamie Collins, OLB
115. Montee Ball, RB

Man... FA has really made me edit the crap out of my Wishlist/Draft... and not really for the better.

Hmm, looks like they cut him to put money into Byrd. Wilson is a fine option at SS. Basically a cris crocker that can still play. In favor.

Wilson not in our plans. It doesn't seem with visits already being set up. Not yet anyway.

Agreed, but I think the problem is that Byrd and Goldson are priorities for their existing clubs and will likely be signed back with them before free agency starts. Quin would be a good option if he does hit FA, but I think this is one position where we will have to add the youth via the draft and it does then make some sense to look for vets like Wilson in FA as stop-gap/mentor.

I feel like if they draft a safety in the 1st or 2nd round, and they can't beat out an average-ish 32 year old and actually need him to be a stop-gap/mentor...... then they had no business being drafted in the 1st or 2nd round.

So who can you sign/not sign right now, according to the rules? I thought free agency started in March. If you're cut can you be signed before then?

Pending Free Agents are available on the first day of free agency. (when their contract expires)

anyone currently under contract that is cut and has vet status gets a head start on free agency as they are now without contracts.

Or if they do not yet have vet Status they are subject to waivers.

I would say that maybe Marv plans on drafting a safety, but he was quoted at the combine saying he'd "only looked at 8 players so far".

If true, that's pathetic because other teams already have their offseasons planned out.

Ian Rappaport is reporting it as a two year 4 million dollar deal.

We couldn't have offered 2.5 or 3? That doesn't sound like too much to me.

Sux we needed a SS and WR2 last year and everyone knew it and we did nothing.

I sure hope we don't that two years in a row.

RB, C, SS, WR2........You can't get ALL that in the draft. We need to sign a couple guys and we have plenty of money to do so. For god sakes man, they're killin me.

It's just like any other year. Mike Brown probably doesn't even know the names of the FA's yet.

We'll make a couple cheap signings late, then have another Kiper approved draft and everyone will be happy.

Wilson wasn't a 1st Rd bust so an early signing by the Bengals wasn't going to happen.

Shame. Solid player and signed a very team friendly deal.
