Just win out--ugly, pretty, whatever. There have been quite a few formulas that have won SB's. Ours will be defense rules, offense kicks in just enough to win. And I'm just fine for that.
Yeah, I agree. The offense sure as heck was not stellar Sunday, no doubt. That said, they WERE able to move the ball a little, and managed to change the field position game....which is huge in defensive struggles like the game in Pitt (don't wanna say "battle" here, or Biff will get all huffy with my choice in adjectives). They missed some big opportunities. Andy missed the open guy in the Red Zone, AJ dropped a long ball, Andy overthrew one, the sketchy rule on the sidelines cost us one, the defender made a good play to break up the Marvin Jones surefire TD. It wasn't like we were just totally stymied, we missed some opportunities and the Stoolers made some good plays.

The total lack of a running game was the only thing that disturbed me, of course, it was Pittsburgh. Maybe as John Connor gets more reps, he'll become a better lead back. He was a beast at UK at the FB position. He is not afraid of contact. I guess we'll see. But, like you say, as long as we can spell the defense, score some, and the special teams keep stepping up like they have been (minus the holding penalty on Jones' runback....we'll be around at the end of any game.

I completely agree, and this is coming from a couple of folks that usually criticize the living crap out of this team. (Me and neek)

I think it is time to enjoy the victory this week and worry about playoff opponents next week.

If that's all you were saying, I'd agree with you.
We didn't beat the "organization" we beat the team. Our record against the Steelers' "organization" is 53-33, and it would take us beating them every game for the next decade to even the score. Fortunately, this meeting was between two teams, the players of which were not even born, many of their parents were not born, when these "organizations" began to play each other.

What you chose to read as a "hate-mongering" and "we aren't good enough" mentality, was actually meant as a "we have potential" and "our expectations should be higher for us to make a deep playoff run" thought process. I'm sorry if that offends you, but I want to see the team play up to the level that I know we can. We have seen too many great things from our young guys to be happy when they regress. They should have a few more years of continually getting better.

I don't understand what's so wrong about wanting the team to be as complete and dominant as possible.
There's nothing wrong with it at all. It's what I'd prefer too, but the vicious words toward other posters and toward the team, doing what it can, as best it can, given its current make up and then calling for heads to roll while we're winning makes no sense at all.

Maybe you personally aren't doing all those things but many, many are and that's what those on my side of this arguement are talking about.

I don't recall any of this happening. You've fabricated an argument, or perhaps strayed over from another thread where this is actually taking place.

Here, however, no one other than yourself (in apparent parody) has said anything negative about an individual player or criticized the front office. This has been a rare occurance in these threads, to be sure, but this marks the second time in this thread that you have imagined some slight to be angry about.

Perhaps not "made up", but "skimmed and assumed based on previous experience".

Go ahead and show me where anyone in this thread "slammed our guys as failures" or said "AD *****. Offesne *****. Coaches ****. BJGE *****. AJ is great but everyone else *****.", I welcome the correction.

By the way, there is an important distinction between labeling someone as a failure and pointing out that they failed to complete a task.

Neek is a smart man. Believe it or not, but this post is evidence.

good post. while the team still needs criticism, we need to just soak up the fact that we just beat the steelers at home to clinch a playoff berth and eliminate them from contention.

Very good point. It seems that some feel our new state of success is so fragile that any criticism takes away from it, instead of being a tool to help build on it.

yes they definitely need criticism, our offense is absolutely anemic at times. i'm scared about playing NE in foxboro. as great as our defense is, brady will almost always get his points. however, the giants recipe of just having a great d-line to disrupt the hell out of him all day is something that I think our boys have a chance of doing as well.
