Default 50-post rule

For those new to the board, please be aware that we have a rule that a member must have 50 posts or been a member for at least six months before he/she can create a thread. You are able to post a response or reply in an existing thread, but you are not able to create a new thread until you reach that post mark or service time.

Does it matter what their first 50 posts are?

When this was first enforced, some people would just post garbage to get up to 50 so they could post their irrelevant thread.

And then they continue doing it well after their 50 posts?

I used to scour the forums looking for confirmation that this rule actually existed and never could find any proof. Congratulations for retrospectively adding it a few years after the fact.

But why is it hidden away in Fan Feedback instead of the Code of Conduct?? It's almost like you want newbies to start threads so that you can whine about the 50 post rule...

It seems the only one whining here is you.

Indeed. It should be based on rep or rep/post ratio or something like that.

As long as someone with less than 50 posts is "able" to start a new thread, it is not a rule, but a suggestion.

It is currently set up to automatically enforce. I think many on here did not understand the original rule - which was 50 posts OR 6 months service time on the board. Thus, someone who has only 20 posts but has been a member for a year, for example, is allowed to start a thread.
