Just saw on PFF that Pat was our 2nd highest rated Dlineman yesterday (nobody beats Geno) and 4th best defender overall.

Maybe not such a myth afterall.

I don't care if they only scored 19 points. They only needed 14. They could have scored 35 if they needed it. Only one three and out the entire game. Our defense was on he field a lot for two reasons... Our offense couldn't move the ball, and because the defense couldn't stop the other team from moving he ball.

In what aspect of the game did they play well.
Sorry, but I literally laughed out loud while reading this post.

Yeah, they decided not to score more points.

The entire Texan offensive game plan centered around 58 and everything that they did was to make the ball go in front of him. It was really strange but effective. I hate to say it because I love Zimmer but he had no answer for it.

Again, 60% of our offensive drives was a punt on the 5th play of the drive. The Texans faced third down 17 times and only converted 8 of them. The Bengals faced third down 8 times and never converted. THAT is why the defense had to face 17 freakin' third downs over 38+ minutes on the field!

No. First of all converting only 8 out of 17 third downs is still almost half the time.

Second, it doesn't matter how many times the Bengals offense fails to convert, the Bengals defense could still make the Texans fail just as much. But they didn't.

Third down didn't really matter that much because the defense was failing to stop the Texans on first and second down as well.

It was the same recipe on the stove as before. Four man rush with zone behind it. Passive, passive, passive. And a good team treated it like it should be treated. They feasted on it and drove up and down the field all night.

And for good measure, Geno had 2.5 more Ben throw-downs in the playoff clinching win in Pittsburgh.

Everyone knew the game was over and the bengals would not be the ball back because the D was not capable of forcing a three and out.

Yes, the offense was putrid. But the defense wasn't very good either.
Defense gave up 12 net points less than two touchdowns

Your argument is invalid

And all Jay had to dial up was 13 points.

13 points, what are we talking about here.

It appears that you are advocating the reconfiguration of a top 10 defense while being comfortable with an offense that scored 1/3 of the TD's the defense did in the last three games. Am I correct?

I'll take any defense that holds opponents to 19 points a game. This offense is a disaster.

No argument here. Offense was worse than the defense. But, the defense had only been giving up 12.5 pts per game over the 2nd half of the season. So if they had help up with that....Bengals win.

He only dialed up 6. Those are rotary phone numbers.

I swear, some of you people wouldn't be able to tell your foot from your face.
420 yds given up, No sacks, no QB pressure, Houston was 8/17 on 3rd down, Schaub completes 75% of his passes.

Yea, the D was awesome.

I swear, all of you apologists who have on rose-colored shades have no football IQ. Do you really think that D is good enough to accomplish more than a 1st round playoff loss? Clearly not.
