That said, I think he'd be a reliable target as a #2. As long as he doesn't get over 6 mil (I don't think he will), I'd still be cool with bringing him in.

55 yards/game is still more than Binns/Tate/Sanu/Jones averages combined.
If we can get Hartline for $3-4M per I'd be all for it. He's not a big play guy, but like you said, he'd be the most reliable #2 guy we've had here since TJ.

AJ
Hartline
Sanu in the slot

Sounds like a solid receiving corp, but at the same time I don't want to pay him more than average 2nd tier WR money. It'd be a waste otherwise.

I read somewhere that he's looking for around 6 mil per.

Recent News

A "friend" tells the Miami Herald free agent Brian Hartline hopes to earn an annual $6 million with his new contract.
The Herald had previously reported Hartline was seeking $5-$6 million. It's not an unreasonable request for a 26-year-old receiver coming off his first 1,000-yard season, but would make Hartline one of the higher paid No. 2/3 receivers in the league. That assumes he either gets away from Miami or the Dolphins sign a true No. 1 wideout. With the Dolphins so thin at receiver, retaining Hartline will likely be a priority. Jan 29 - 11:42 PM

Not even joking, I wouldn't even want to pay Hartline 3 mil. Why? It doesn't upgrade the talent level much at all. Sanu has a better overall skillset, so why not just go with him at that point?

I'd be interested in Bowe, if he could somehow be had for around 7 mil per. (Say 5 years 35 mil) That would be more than doable, but highly unlikely. Other than him, I'd rather just draft someone and continue to build off what we have. Unless a play could be made for a Jeremy Maclin, but I don't see that happening either. Mike Wallace is going to be way too much and isn't worth it. Greg Jennings has been hurt too much recently to warrant what some idiot will ultimately overpay him.

I really do not understand people campaigning for Brian Hartline to be signed at all though. The guy is just an everyday mid level talent/skill set player. He's Kevin Walter 2.0. The league and draft is literally littered with similar players. The guy had one OK year, in which they had a rookie QB who relied on him as a safety valve. He only had one TD, and that was on a broken play where the ball traveled 15 yards in the air. I honestly feel sorry for whoever pays that clown 5 mil plus.

Brian Hartline? No thank you.

He made 9.5 on his Franchise year. I'd bet he is going to be looking Vincent Jackson type money (5yrs/55million).

Maybe the Bengals swoop in, give the Giants their 1st rounder, and steal Victor Cruz away from them? The Bengals can easily make an offer the Giants can't possibly match afterall. Also it's not like the Bengals have anything they direly need to take with their 1st round pick, and they have that EARLY 2nd round pick from the Raiders which is essentially a late 1st rounder itself to use on a RB in the draft.

Green/Cruz/Sanu(and Hawkins) sounds mighty beastly. Mighty beastly indeed.

2013 Outside FA Wishlist:
Chris Ivory, RB (Trade a 5th for him.)

2013 Mock Draft:
21. Eric Ried, S
37. Jamar Taylor, CB
53. Travis Frederick, C
84. Jamie Collins, OLB
115. Montee Ball, RB

Man... FA has really made me edit the crap out of my Wishlist/Draft... and not really for the better.

Cruz is gonna want to get PAID though. I wouldn't be totally opposed to the idea since he is a game changer, but we'll likely only get 1 year of service out of him, then we'll have to choose between him and AJ.

I'm still liking Maclin if he comes available. Only due $3.2M next season, and should be able to get him for a 2nd. Also, his numbers won't dictate him asking for $8-10+ million per at the end of his rookie deal, so extending him should he perform well wouldn't hamper trying to extend/re-sign other valuable players on the team.
