For the love of god, it's been stated many times that the gameplan purposefully avoided AJ in the first half.

Andy does not make the game plan. He follows instructions given to him by the great Jay Gruden.

To be fair though, if Gresham didnt drop pass after pass, it may have worked out for us.

I don't know why that all falls on Gruden. Marv is running things. I'm sure his coordinators don't have total autonomy. If my OC came to me and said the gameplan is to not target Green in the first half I'd tell him to get back into his office becuse he's got work to do. It was a bad idea that should have never left the Bengals facility. It certainly should never have been implemented.

Very true. Marvin has managed to try and turn Gruden into another Brat...... Play it cool Jay, lets not do anything rash and score more points than we need....I need to make sure i put my fingerprints on this game by making challenges and calling inappropriate time outs.

This.

Our Skill players are barren past AJ.

Look, I know AJ is awesome, I just think he needs to be held accountable for some stuff.
He had a bad game against the Cowboys, but generally in the last month of the season he's been open A LOT deep and our QB has simply not been getting him the ball. I mean, against the Chargers he even had a deep ball thrown out of bounds to him on a play where he had the DB beat deep for a TD. AJ's a big, athletic guy, he can bail a QB out on a lot of less-than-perfect throws, but he can't do anything with a pass out of bounds.

AJ had a bad game against Dallas and a fumble versus Pitt. Other than that I thought he's been pretty good. As for the Texans game, AJ was open three times deep for what should have been TDs with a good throw. But we had the underthrow in the endzone, a huge overthrow late in the game, and even the 40+ yarder we hit to AJ in the 3rd quarter should have been a TD with a better throw (the safety had bit hard on the play-action and the middle of the field was wide open ... but Dalton threw the ball outside forcing AJ to slow down, change direction and catch it over his shoulder)

The last month of the season must have been unbelievable frustrating for Green. There has to have been at least 6 or 7 big TDs left out there on the field by bad throws.

Andy Dalton is to blame period. He is an average at best qb that did not show any improvements in this his second year. If anything I believe he has gotten worse. The game plan didn't call for AJ to not be targeted in the first half. It was to emphasize Gresham in the middle and Marvin Jones singled up on the opposite side. That is just your first progression. Andy cannot read defenses properly pre-snap. That is why he throws to a double covered Jones while AJ has single coverage on the opposite side. Defenses are dissecting Daltons weaknesses. They bluff the safety over top of green pre-snap knowing Andy will not even look his way. I also question Daltons toughness and courage in the pocket. He gets that frantic deer in the headlights look and that squirrel crossing the street twitch when the pocket starts to get tight.
