There's always a team in mid-November that seems ready to make a real playoff push after a slow start.
Many would say this year's team in that role is the New Orleans Saints.
I say it's the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals have won two consecutive games -- including blowing out the Super Bowl-champion Giants two weeks ago -- to get to 5-5, and they have a tissue-soft schedule that will make a run not only possible, but likely.
Here are the Bengals' next four games: Home against Oakland, at San Diego, home against Dallas, at Philadelphia. Not one of those opponents has a winning record. That stretch seemed brutal when the season started. Not anymore.
The Bengals close out the season with two AFC North games, one at Pittsburgh and one at home against the Ravens. Get a split, and they might be in.
They are 17th in our CBSSports.com Power Rankings this week, but I have a sneaky feeling a month from now they will be a lot higher.
The biggest difference with this Bengals team and the one from earlier in the season is its defense. It's getting healthy. They had a lot of injury issues early on and had to fight through them.
On offense, they have started to run the ball better, which will help take some of the pressure off the downfield passing game. BenJarvus Green-Ellis had his first 100-yard game as a Bengal in Sunday's victory over the Chiefs.
Second-year quarterback Andy Dalton has played better in the past couple of weeks -- putting aside any talk of a sophomore slump -- and A.J. Green continues to be sensational at wide receiver. What's more, some younger receivers, like rookie Mohamed Sanu, are starting to make plays.
I picked the Bengals to win the AFC North. That's probably not going to happen. But I still think they have a real shot to be a playoff team. They trail the Steelers and the Colts by a game in the race for the final AFC spot. The Steelers have quarterback issues and the Colts are a young team that was exposed some in New England.
Three weeks ago many were laughing at my pick of the Bengals in the playoffs. Not so much anymore, right?

At any rate, talking about the Draft is very goofy at this point. And that makes it fun, to me.

Prisco has every reason to believe we could pull it off. I was relieved once reading the thread because at first, I thought it was another Dez Briscoe thread!

Funny, I have very fond memories of the Bengals beating the Chargers and advancing to the Superbowl at Riverfront stadium in 1981.

They are both different teams from the fond memory and the not so fond as well.

Like our chances if we continue to play as if on mission.

This isnt entirely surpsing considering he had us losing the afc championship in the preseason, but I've called his preseason picks the best I've ever seen, not on the basis of right or wrong but because of the fact he picked every single game and showed how he came up with win totals for every team unlike everyone else who just picks numbers before the season with no backing to them

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1...sound-familiar

I've looked over his picks for every game so far and based on what he predicted he's 99-60-1, his season record is 104-55-1 so he hasnt been far off of what he's predicted

His 10-6 prediction for the Bengals is based on his opinion that Bengals will split with the Steelers and Ravens, holding serve at home. In my opinion, that would be a strong 10-6.

well he hasnt been game by game right with the Bengals and he had us starting 5-1 much like everyone was expecting but that's not to say the Bengals cant find another way to get there, after all he did have us losing to the Giants and Chiefs

And he had us beating the Broncos. I think he basically gave us the benefit of the doubt in home games, and a couple of away games.
Overall, I think he underestimated the Broncos.

well he overestimated these teams who cant match their predicted records with too many losses

New England 16-0
Green Bay 14-2
NY Giants 13-3
Philadelphia 11-5

and he underestimated these teams who have already surpassed their predicted win totals

Indianapolis 1-15
Cleveland 1-15
Minnesota 3-13
Tampa Bay 3-13
Washington 3-13

like I said I dont credit him for his predictions on the basis of right and wrong which he's already wrong on 1/4 of the league so far, but the fact he said certain teams would win so many games and showed exactly how they would win or lose each game is what I was impressed to see unlike all these other sites who make predictions and say teams will win a certain amount of games and dont explain how they will, like will there be upsets and etc? they never say but Prisco at least did this and for that I credit him over anyone else
