Can't We Ever Dictate To The Opponent?

I know the Bengals are no juggernaut, but at some point, Marvin needs to man up, grow a pair, and dictate to the opponent what is going to happen. If we get our butts kicked along the way, at least we didn't lose by simply playing keep away. I'm not sure in the grand scheme of things what we have to lose.

the bears game of '09 stands out to me where we completely dictated the pace of the game.

That was the one game that came to mind when I posed the question. I think that was more feeding Cedric Benson and it happened to work. Cedric obviously had a say so in the offense and Marvin let him have his way that day.

Any other times over the course of the 150 or so games Marvin has coached?

Marvin tries to do that all time,actually, It's just that he usually dictates that we're going to beat our opponent's by hammering it in between the tackles over and over again and it fails miserably.

The Bengals dictated the hell out of running BJGE inside on first down.. every first down. It worked 100% of the time (10% of the time). Ohhhh yeah.

Its hard to impose you will when you lack talent. Dalton was under pressure and the receivers weren't getting open...On defense we had no pass rush.

There was also a Monday Night game, or maybe a Thursday game, I don't know. It was a prime time game against the Ravens where the Bengals whooped them up and held them scoreless until the end of the game. I think they only scored 3 but it might of been 7, I don't remember.

I think it's funny that we talk about single games where the Bengals dominate instead of seasons. The Bengals have had no "Magical" seasons, like the Giants did last year or the year they beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl after the Patriots go 16-0. Or like the Ravens Super Bowl team with that dominating defense. Even teams that never made it to the Super Bowl but still had "Magical" seasons.

No, what we get as fans are good seasons followed by garbage, and this only happens ever once in a while, lol. Most of the NFL has good seasons with a down year every so often. The Bengals have bad seasons with the ever so often good one.

It certainly seems that way in Bengalville. Leonard was punishing the defenders the way he ran, But I didn't see him again until the game was all but over. STUPID COACHES.

It was Ravens and it was after the Bears game. That was the game Henry broke his wrist in. We didn't score again after that and it crushed our passing offense for the rest of the year.
