First of all, congratulations. Hope she is healthy and full of vim and vigor.

Secondly, and no offense, but Carsyn? Really? I name my dogs after my sports favorites, not my kids. If you like Alexis, go with that, or a family name.

We decided on the name "Carsyn" immediately upon looking at her.
She looks so much like her grammy Carol.

In fact the name "Carsyn" is pretty much an acronym for her grandparent's names.

Car = Carol
s = Sally
y = Dorothy & Henry
n = Ken

Forget Disney...

She is named "Aurora" after the Aurora Borealis, which I feel are the most beautiful natural phenomenon.

I don't know if you've ever seen them in person, so here's a picture so you get an idea...

Being an avid sky-watcher, I have seen them many times, even here in PA.
However, it's pretty rare to see them directly overhead in PA as shown in that picture, (its more common further north) so I found some more photos of what a typical display looks like.

I knew that someday if I ever had a daughter, she would somehow be named after the Aurora. They are both beautiful, so it's only fitting.

Those photos are incredible. I was kidding about the Aurora-Disney thing and, you're right, the aurora borealis is incredible. When I was flying years ago the effects from the aurora borealis were absolutely stunning, especially over the North Pacific west of Alaska. I've seen the aurora australis once but it was not nearly as spectacular as what we have in the northern hemisphere.

Little girls are the best and you will absolutely never be the same once she is in your life. Carsyn is nice, Alexis is very elegant, and Aurora is beautiful. I was thinking of other Bengal name variants like Marvyn, Cedryc, and Rae!

Carsyn is a horrible name for anything. Just horrible tomkat. makes me sad just thinking there might be some girl with that name. I prefer alexis, although it's starting to become more common. COngratulations by the way.

Although I'm worried that people might confuse the name with a boy's name (Carson).

What do you all think?

Just for reference, we've decided on "Aurora" as the middle name, and my last name begins with an "S," (but I'll use "Smith" for this example)
So.. just so you know how the complete names would "sound."

Alexis Aurora Smith
or
Carsyn Aurora Smith

Don't forget to vote in the poll!

I like Alexa and Alexandra better than Alexis. I love Carsyn, though, and I think you should choose that one.

I LOVE the name Aurora. It probably helps that I used to live in Northern Maine, so I have actually seen the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) too.
