No controversy. They do need to draft one in the mid to late rounds, but Dalton is the starter for another 2 years at least. Let him work on deep throws in the offseason and he will get better. He did improve from last season to this one. I will grant you that his last month of play was pretty bad. If Dalton struggles early next year, we may be in big trouble.

It's a controversy when you've never missed the playoffs in your career? Dalton has set the standards so high now because of this of course we're expecting a playoff win in his 3rd year next year, whereas back when we had Palmer, we were just happy to make it in his 3rd year let alone win anything

You're only as good as the team around you.
QB gets way too much of the credit and the blame. The O-line got flat out dominated and it's Andy's fault? He may be part of the problem (pocket presence), but that may be correctable. You can't throw the offense out on the field against one of the best NFL defenses and expect to score points when you have holes all over the field. |

Re: QB controversy or not?
Zero controversy. Dalton is the QB whether some like it or not.

I'm just not getting all the hate for Dalton. I was just PO'd at his performance against the Texans but the guy is a second year QB. He led this team to the playoffs 2 years in a row. I know that the Bengals make the playoff every year, especially in back to back years, but come on... (Hope you can feel the sarcasm there) If you look at the stat sheet for the year he had a descent year for a second year QB. Let's compare him to the other QB's that lost in the playoffs:
Dalton: 528 Attempts / 329 Completions 3669 Yards 27 Touchdowns / 16 Interceptions 4 Rushing Touchdowns / 120 Yards 87.4 Passer Rating RGIII: 393 Attempts / 258 Completions 3200 Yards 20 Touchdowns / 5 Interceptions 7 Rushing Touchdowns / 815 Yards 102.4 Passer Rating Christian Ponder (Didn't play but started the whole year): 483 Attempts / 300 Completions 18 Touchdowns / 12 Interceptions 2 Rushing Touchdowns / 253 Rushing Yards 81.2 Passer Rating Andrew Luck: 627 Attempts / 339 Completions 4374 Yards 23 Touchdowns / 18 Interceptions 5 Rushing Touchdowns / 255 Rushing Yards 76.5 Passer Rating Dalton was not a horrible QB this year by any stretch. Was he a Brady or Manning, uhm no. But there is only 2 of them and they are currently employed by the Patriots and Broncos. My final argument for Dalton; ask a Panther's fan if they would trade Cam Newton for 2 years in the playoffs and a good possibility for a 3rd. I'm willing to bet a few of them would take the offer straight up. Dalton needs to improve and he will. But to place all the blame on him for the loss is crazy. More of the blame belongs to the coaches. How do you not game plan to get green at least 10 targets a half? Secondly, how do you only run the ball 11 times with The Law Firm when he is averaging 6 yards a friggin carry! Want to slow down the pass rush, that's the way to do it! Just my 2 cents though. Everyone is free to think what they want. Would have loved to win that game and be looking forward to playing Denver this weekend, but I'll take back to back playoff games for the first time in 20+ years as a runner up prize.
