Isn't one of the byproducts of being a fan a certain amount of feeling good? If so, why dwell on the negative when your team is winning? I don't get it.

When things are going well for me, I don't relentlessly keep reliving the bad times. Call me crazy.

When it comes to the internet/infotainment sports writers, I know exactly why they have to keep dredging up the past for this franchise. They are usually not very bright or talented or clever, so they mentally hold onto an easy target like their lives are riding on it.

Suddenly, the Clippers are good, the Bengals are good. Oh, no, who do I take cheap shots at now? Poking fun at the Bengals is one of their go-to's. What will they have now?

As a writer, if you're intelligent, clever and insightful, you don't need "controversy." You can succeed with the simple truth. But the simple truth is one things they neither care about nor even care to find.

Hey, you wanna use "Twenty, thirty years blah, blah, blah..." as your mantra, go right ahead.

My mantra is "Dawn of a New Age. Up, up and away.
Great post!

As far as I understand in the new CBA there is a mandate that teams spend to at least 90% of the salary cap. Therefore, MB will be mandated to spend money. I don't think the guy is a good businessman as some do, but he's not stupid. If you have to spend money why not invest it in your best players (especially young players with solid intangibles)? It's not like we're going to overpay Rey friggin' Maulaluga. The big money will go to Andre, AJ, Geno and Dalton. Wouldn't be suprised to see Gresham walk next year (nor would I have a problem with it).

The Texans were willing to pay big bucks for him because Houston had the #32 (!) pass D in the league in 2010 and JoJo was a major upgrade for them. They were rewarded with JJ's first Pro Bowl season last year, but now that he seems to be struggling with injuries again this year they may still yet regret the big money they shelled out for him.
You can't base an argument on Pro Bowls dude...You just can't, it's ridiculous.

The Bengals screwed up not at least franchising the guy. They blew it. And much as I love to, I don't blame MB alone for that one, I think Marvin's disdain for dudes he perceives as "injury prone" had as much to do with it as anything.

We had the best duo of CBs in the conference if not the league (although Chicago's corners are nasty) and we let that go.

Karma's a beyotch ain't it. Marvin got to draft himself another first round CB, which he loves to do apparently, and the dude has been an injury riddled dud.

OK, I'll base it on my completely subjective opinion from watching football: while JoJo played for us he was in the second tier of CBs in the league, and not in the same class as guys like Champ Bailey, Darrelle Revis and Asante Samuel. The fact that people voting players into the Pro Bowl had the exact same judgment as me is just an added bonus. But, you give me an argument for how JoJo was better than or as good as those guys and I'll listen to it.
