Well then no real reason for you to hang around then right?

BTW go Bills, Pats, Broncos, and Ravens
I haven't changed my mind. If you want to be technical, we are not mathematically eliminated. It would take an ending worthy of a hollywood script to get in though. We basically have to hope Roethlisberger misses the remainder of the season and the Steelers start losing a bunch of AFC games. Plus we would have to go at least 5-2 the rest of the way. Not impossible, but highly unlikely.

....or we could hope the Colts lose to the Texans (twice) and the Pats.

I think he had a knee injury that changed his game signifigantly. Geathers is a much better player then many credit him for. he is not a great pass rusher, but he might be our best run stopping defensive lineman, not bad for a 4th rounfder.

We still have one game against each, you bonehead, so where are these tiebreakers?

Keep smoking.

But the Colts also have AFC games against the Bills, Titans and Chiefs. Even if they split their remaining AFC games and we somehow manage to take 4 of our last 5 AFC games, the Colts would still have a better conference record.

Here's how I see things playing out:

Colts: 6-3 (4-2 in AFC)

@ Pats- L
vs Bills- W
@ Lions- L (could go either way)
vs Titans- W
@ Texans- L
@ Chiefs- W
vs Texans- L (Texans hopefully won't be resting starters)

Final record: 9-7 (7-5 in AFC)

Now here's how I see it playing out for our team:

Bengals: 4-5 (2-5 in AFC)

@ Chiefs- W
vs Raiders- W
@ Chargers- L (could go either way, have a feeling we lose this one)
vs Cowboys- W
@ Eagles- W
@ Steelers- L
vs Ravens- L

Final Record: 8-8 (4-8 in AFC)

The only way we have any realistic shot is if we take 4 of our last 5 AFC games and either the Steelers or Colts completely choke.

As for the season being over after 8 games, would you wager money that we somehow make the playoffs? We're 3-5 overall, 1-3 in the division and 2-5 in the conference. It's not happening.

Agree on your other points though. Somewhat.
so now 6-5...4-5 conference...

See Pittsburgh on that one now, they're a loss to the Ravens away from being 3-6 in the conference next week and the Browns and Dolphins game are moot points now as the Browns have beat them both at home, the Bengals lost to the Dolphins but the Steelers lost to the Raiders and Titans, the only thing saving them is the head to head win now

Also are sacks a good thing now that Carlos got a couple and forced 2 fumbles or are we still good with the "pressures" as a measure of a good DE?

Do your own homework, "bonehead." Or does mommy have to click your browser buttons as well?

When I posted that, Cincy was 9th in the wc race with no tiebreaker--meaning no head to head advantage and the worst AFC record....y'know, those "tiebreaker" thingies you don't seem to understand.

Lay off your own pipe before crying about others.

And now 7-5 and 5-5 in conference.

But that's not the telling fact. Everybody ELSE has fallen off a cliff! There are now NO contenders outside the AFC North except Indy. From the AFC East for a wc, and no one from the West. And really, Pitt would be out if not for Balt's recent decline.

The media will fixate on Indy and Luck. But the real luck is in Cincy. If Cincy gets in with a WC after how things looked at 3-5, it will be a story for the ages. How the stars aligned, the gods favored, and the sea (as in AF-C) parted!

IDK, but it looks like a bunch of folks are a whole lot less bold in their assertions than they were 6-7 weeks ago.

Oh come on. You have to admit things looked pretty dire when we were 3-5 coming off 4 straight AFC losses. We caught fire and the Steelers (and other AFC teams) crumbled. Who would've bet on all that happening?

Like any team that was in our situation at that time.....I certainly did not see 8 wins in 9 games after losing 4 in a row (two to cleveland and miami).

I was just hoping for the winning season thinking we were going to lose a tiebreaker for the playoffs but lowered expectations makes for bigger surprises

A 3-5 record (including losses to the Dolphins and Browns) is typically a death sentence in the AFC North.

After we lost that game to Denver, I predicted that we would finish 7-9. I think it was a fair prediction at the time, but I will gladly treat myself to a plate full of crow.

All the board has taught me if anything happens bad on defense it must be Rey's fault.
