Levi Jones.
Willie Anderson.
Carson Palmer.
Chad Johnson.

All of them were paid as one of the highest EVER at their position when they got extended.
All the guys you list are ones who WANTED out and were open about that. Geno seems to like it and hasn't made any sort of inkling he wants out.

Big Willie griped about towels
Carson realized his mistake
Chad wanted out, then found out no one else wanted him after we held on to him for too long

Jonathan Joseph, Justin Smith, Ahmad Brooks, Takeo Spikes, etc. Brown will just low ball him and Geno will walk. 1 year later Geno will be interviewed and will say how poorly and pathetically ran the Bengals organization is.
Lost a bidding war in which the other team over paid, didn't fit our D, Ditto, Demanded a trade.

As I said in my first post, Brown has no mproblem spending the money to extend the high price offensive players. Its the elite defensive talent that always seems to get away from us.

We need to hit the salary floor, so let's hope that Mike doesn't even attempt to low-ball him.

Mike says he doesn't run things anymore, so let's hope that Katie or Troy or whoever doesn't even think about low-balling him.

Dude's on a pace for a Hall of Fame career, so throw at least 11 million a year at him with a 15 million dollar signing bonus.

What elite talent?
Joseph was good not elite.
Smith was never elite here, nor was Spikes.
We havent had an elite defender here in like 20 years

Lol this I don't agree with Geathers put together one decent year and beyond that has been a good run stopper. If I'm not mistaken which I can be at times MJ at this point compared to Geathers at this point already has more sacs. Now before we dive into the debate of the other roles of the DE. Geathers is not a 3-4 DE he should be getting sacs as well not just run stops and debateable pressures.
