You can say negative things. But just be prepared to be called out when they are something as absurd as your assumption (with no real grounds) that Still, Thompson and Dre are "career backups" 13 games in. Still played fairly well for a rookie DT. Easy as that. He may never reach Geno levels, but the kid is showing high upside.

I didn't say Dre looks like a career backup. I said that only about Thompson and Still, and that's just how I assess their play so far. They haven't shown anything special. I've already said they might turn it around, but SO FAR they don't look like future studs to me. If I'm not allowed to say that after 13 games, then this thread shouldn't exist at all. I admit it's way too early to start calling players failures, but it's also way too early to declare success. Understand what I'm saying?

Still and thompson are the product of having better veteran players on the team. Its hard to for people to wrap their heads around us not having to rush rookies into starting at certain positions. Dre is in this catagory also

Exactly, could not have said it better. Our team is heading in the right direction when players have time to develop versus being thrown out there in week one as rookies. Everyone see the talent of a guy like Dunlap, but he just recently became a starter (in year 3). That did not make hime a bust nor will it with likes of guys like Thompson and Still are stuck behind some very good DT's.

Patience folks, it is all good right now on the talent front.

You need to have someone "scout" your posts before you embarrass yourself. Bengals arguably have had the 3 best overall drafts 3 years running.

Actually, Geno had 4.5 sacks in his 1st preseason, so I guess I was wrong after all.

Was going to say just this. I remember thinking Atkins was just roster fodder. DT needs a year to put some muscle on the frame and what not.

Then again, maybe you end up with a Jason Shirley instead of an Atkins. We'll see I guess.

I hope we really are good at drafting, because this year we get a late first followed by either the 2nd or 3rd pick in the 2nd round (depends on if the Raiders lose to KC or not) and then a late 2nd. If those 3 picks turn into impact players for this team we should be making regular trips to the playoffs for the next 7 years.

We've been drafting better. For example just from this draft Zeitler is contributing as is Charles. And before the injury Sanu was looking like our desperately needed big possession receiver. Burflict is looking decent at MLB.

What we desperately need this offseason is a VETERAN big possession WR plus a lot of help at OLB and FS.
