That's fine, but I stand by my comments. Finso always tries to stir crap up. He's not as bad as some but he'll pick some goofy thing like this and try to make it so that anyone who would even insinuate that our team is young is being a tool. He's predictable at least.

Big difference between a young team that has never seen post season action and one that has. Especially when the PS action was at the same venue that your getting ready to play in. PERFECT storm

This team isn't that young by NFL standards so quit using it as an excuse or building block.
Bottom line is, teams in the NFL aren't old anymore. All the teams have young talent.
The youngest team which isnt the Bengals are only 2 years on average younger than the oldest, which isn't old at all.
There are teams light years ahead of the Bengals with young players and by the way, every team get to draft.
http://bloggingthebeast.com/2012/09/...re-the-oldest/
So, the Bengals average age is 25.87 years old verses the Rams 25.32 youngest age.

http://www.bengals.com/team/roster.html
If you were to sort our roster by the most experienced players, you would see the following at the top of that list:
  • Nate Clements - 33 years old
  • Josh Brown - 33 years old
  • Chris Crocker - 32 years old
  • Terence Newman - 34 years old
  • Robert Geathers - 29 years old
  • Jason Allen - 29 years old
  • Bruce Gradkowski - 29 years old
  • Manny Lawson - 28 years old
  • skipping a few - Brian Leonard 28 years old
There is a possibility that none of these players are Bengals in 2013.

I wonder what would happen to our average age when/if 275 years of experience are eliminated from the equation in 2013.

Do you think that the Bengals may be the youngest team in the NFL in 2013?

Oh yeah, we also have 3 draft picks in the first 2 rounds.

Looking at the Playoff teams. Seattle has 2nd youngest starters(bright future), Bengals 3rd, Minnesota 7th, Indy 10th.

In our division, Baltimore is the 30th oldest team per starters, and pittsburgh ranks 28th.

Looks like a changing of the guard is coming to the NFL.

The Bengals having the 3rd youngest starters in the NFL and sporting back to back Playoff appearances, are perched to pounce and take advantage of the elderly..

And now you know too why so many are excited as well.

Who-dey !
This is the key ! Sure every team has young players, but how many never see any significant playing time before they wash out ?

Our roster has playoff experience from last year too which counters youth. Of course the Texans do too.

I was about to ask him to find this stat. I didnt know but I was pretty sure we were one of the youngest teams starters wise....Funny thing is were the only team with starters that young that made playoffs. Freakin amazing. As somebody said if youre adding bench guys in that equation how much does it really matter?

I blame Marvin for not signing/drafting younger players.

It's is great...assuming we can retain these guys.

When you have success, other teams covet your players. For instance, a guy like Michael Johnson may get a huge contract offer somewhere else...for much more than he is worth. That's why extending guys early can pay off.

There is risk either way...that a guys performance could decline. For instance, we extended Geathers based off of a really good season. He was 23 or 24 years old. That year ended up being his career year.

I think the point is that the team has many of its BEST and HIGH-PROFILE players that are in their first two years. Starting QB 2 yrs, Starting WR Rookie, Starting OT Rookie.

Think about the Bengals vs. Patriots QB's, for example:

Ryan Mallet sitting on the bench and Bruce Gradkowski on our bench. Both teams QBs average out to the same age, but our team is YOUNGER because of who is starting.
