Boling and Livings is no comparison dude. We gave Boling a chance to start, he played pretty good and he should stay a starter until he cannot man the position anymore. Livings clearly regressed in his career here. Boling has one year under his belt and people want him replaced? This was basically his rookie year. He will continue to hit the weight room and watch film to get better. As will the rest of the line. And again you don't get better by bringing in new pieces every other season.

The best case scenario for Wharton is that he goes into camp in an open competition for the LG spot. If he's at all behind schedule, he goes on PUP and we delay a decision on him until mid-season.
My guess would be that that Boling continues his improvement and has the LG spot on lockdown during camp, making Wharton depth or even trade bait.

If they decide they like boiling as the starter they may try and trade Wharton away as he would be a kindof expensive backup.

Whats his contract price for next year? 2 mil isnt to much for a backup that could play both OG spots.

Depth player. One less hole to fill in free agency or the draft.

Hmmm...
An older guard coming off an injury? Lets cut him so the Ravens can pick him up and perhaps get him a ring too. . It did warm my heart seeing The Bossman get his ring. I can't begin to predict Wharton's status. We barely got to see him play before the injury, much less after rehab. |

...hopefully be healthy to be our left guard for the season putting Boling back on the bench. If not hopefully we find a new left guard.

If he is healthy I hope we keep him. We clearly parted ways with Bobby Williams too early. Maybe there is still some tread on Wharton's tires, so to speak.

Re: In 2013 Wharton will.....?
It was either a 36 year old Bobbie Williams, or a 22 year old Kevin Zeitler. I think it was a good time to make the transition. I still remember how badly Bobbie looked when he played the Bengals, and I don't recall Zietler ever looking that bad in a game all season. It was good that he got a ring, I am glad for him, but I didn't miss him in 2012, and I won't miss him in 2013. The Bengals got 14 years younger at RG, and still very talented. That's a good thing.. for now and the future.

Has anyone heard back-channel reports of his recovery/rehab process? He is one big beast we could have used last year...and his return could be a great boost to the running game, especially if we spend an early pick on a quality speed back to share the load.

Before Wharton got injured it was said he was neck and neck with Boling for the starting LG spot. While I think Wharton could add some punch to the run game, I think he will get cut.
