If I could take 2 picks in the first round, one of them would an Olineman from Alabama. B. Jones would be my preference, but I'd take any of them.

Too bad we have other more pressing needs on D, but my Top pick would still be a Bama guy.

100% true.

If I'm building a team to sustain success I would bypass the huge contract for the RT and pay the pass rushers.

Especially if I have a suitable replacement.

I'm not saying that Collins is anywhere near the caliber of Smith, I'm saying that Collins is good enough.

The Bengals should have enough cap space to re-sign the guys they want.

The penchant for them to be well under the cap every year forces me to wonder if they will.
If you follow things such as the labor negotiations you will find that they are going to have to spend a minimum which is quite high. I am pretty certain it goes into effect in 2013. So in essence they have positioned themselves perfectly and are going to have the space to secure their pass rushers and Andre.

Not sure why anyone would question if they are willing to continue to have a top paid RT. Has no one ever heard of a guy by the name of Willie Anderson?

OSU is right.

This team has room under the cap, and will have to spend money next year.
There is also room to sign key guys like Green and Dalton, because the cap is set to go way up the next few years.

This hurts to say, but Mike Brown looks smart right now.

I have to go eat some Tums, and drink half a bottle of Pepto.

Seems no one wants to discuss this any further. Seems bringing facts to a discussion sort of ends it.

I for one feel pretty bad about the fat jokes and the poking fun at the foot problems. Andre Smith has blossomed into and elite player-one of the best in the world. I really hope that he sticks around and keeps trying to finish what he started here.

I have noticed that in other threads also.

Hhhmmmmmm... I wonder why facts shut the uninformed over reacting fans up?

The people who are making it sound like any contract extensions are immanent (unless they know something) are just as bad as the people doing the Chicken Little.

The facts are:
The Bengals have a ton of room under the cap
The Bengals need to spend money
Andre Smith's contract is up after this season.

Just because the team has the cash to spend doesn't mean Smith is in stripes next season.

No reason to discuss it until it does or doesn't happen.

You two are simply talking out your arses now.

Recently, the Bengals have preferred to be way under the cap.

They only have to spend 89% to reach the salary floor next year and that doesn't include the carry over.

We will see if they do.
