I think it is crazy to ask an NFL team to play a Thursday night game only about 100 hours after a Sunday game. I have heard many NFL players claim that their bodies just can't fully recover that quickly.
However now that it looks like the biggest game for our playoff hopes is the Steeler game I am thrilled that we will have an extra three days to rest and prepare for that game. Please no comments about looking past the Cowboys and Eagles. I am just a fan. I can look ahead as much as I want. This late in the season when all teams are pretty beat up those extra three days could be HUGE. |

Totally agree. Not that I think the PHI game will be an easy win by any means, but of the teams we have left to play, getting them on the Thurs. game was probably best case scenario.
Fresher bodies, a little extra scheming -- beating PIT in Pitt to reach 10-5 would be such a fantastic little Christmas gift for Bengals fans, and a huge confidence boost for the team (hopefully) heading into the playoffs. ![]() |

Re: I usually hate the idea of a Thursday night game.
I agree, this could help us out. Things seem to be coming together at the right time for us for once.

Never even crossed my mind. But maybe I overlooked it because I probably didn't see us at this point looking at the playoffs after the losing skid.
Plus, that's 3 extra days for Roethlisberger to do something illegal and be ineligible. |

I'll take any advantage we can get at this point.

Agreed. Most annoying thing ever. Fans don't have to focus on any games, considering we don't have an impact on them.

I know right!! It isn't like WE game plan and train for the game so what WE do has no correlation to the game the Bengals play. It always makes me laugh when I read that nonsense. |

I hate Thursday Night Football just because of the Cee-Lo green pregame song.

I agree on liking the extra days to game plan for Pitt. But as far as recover time from physical bumps and bruises, the extra time is almost void due to not having that time before Philly. Seems that the dings will only be deeper and more painful after Philly. You end up using those extra days to heal from Cowboy/Eagles wear and tear.
Love the extra game plan days though. I guess is if your going to have a short week before a Thursday night game, then versing a losing squad is heaven sent.

Agreed, this scheduling works in our favour.
One 'downside' though is when you're on a streak, you want routine, and a Thursday game breaks that. it'll seem 'that bit longer' til the Steelers game. I dont know if it'll make any difference, but id rather we had kept to a routine. But the 3 extra days rest for the Steelers game could be big. Dallas is gunna be a tough game though, deal with the Eagles when we get there. |

I was questioning why WhoDey23 mentioned looking past teams, when part of Fred's original post said as fans we're aloud to look past teams. That is all.

So if we beat PIT and go into week 17 up by one game and then PIT beats CLE and BAL beats CIN duringthe final week, we finish tied with PIT and go home. I hope someone beats PIT prior to that game (SD, DAL) |
