Jones is a pretty good pass catching back. He may be more of a replacement to Leonard then we could draft a back.

I think acquiring Jones would just be a lateral move. I'd like to see us significantly upgrade the RB position.

I think FJ and Law-Firm would be a nice 1-2 combo.
I thought we were looking to upgrade the running game?

I wouldn't waste money on a rb if Jones is the target. We can get a couple of him in the draft. Use that money to get us a strong safety, olb, or wideout.

You again????

Lateral in what way???

Jones' stats over the last 4 years or so are better than Leonard and Scotts' combined..... not sure how the production of one guy to replace 2 guys can be lateral...get rid of Leonard and Scott....

BJGE/Jones/Peerman/Draft Pick

I am fine with that until the draft pick takes over as starter

I'm sorry you fail at math. I really am. It's a major plight on our great country.

Jones should come very cheap....the guy averages about 550 yards a year rushing and 250 or so a year receiving with a few tds and can return kickoffs.....perfect compliment back for BJGE....and replaces Leonard and Scott at the same time

I always thought that Felix Jones had the skill set to be great. He just never seemed to blossom though. I guess some of that has to do with injuries, but It makes me question how important football is to him. He definitely could contribute at rb and special teams, but it doesn't look like he's going to develop into the stud many thought he'd become

In that offense he averaged those numbers. We don't run the Dallas offense. Our backup rb's do not get those same opportunities and there's no evidence to suggest that our system is going to change.

Depends on the asking price, if the right price it might not be too bad at all, I could think of a few worse things to do, such as standing pact with what we have and relying on a rookie. Not that I wouldn't like to see us draft a rookie RB, do both and release Scott and Leonard.

He has good hands and could also return kicks as well and would be far and away an upgrade over Tate.

Plus he's only 25.

Refresh my memory here. Wasn't part of the deal on BJGE was his receiving credentials in NE? Or am I mis-remembering? I was thinking he caught llike 40-50 passes in a recent year. If that is the case, maybe our problem is more scheme than player? Or QB-related and not RB-related?

Remember a year ago when Lewis and Gruden defended our RB core as not needing upgrade or Draft/FA help? (I didn't agree with it then.) And Gruden now saying we could stand a scat back of some type. Isn't that something like Cribbs?

Jones career....5 years in league

2728 rushing yards....1077 receiving yards....14 tds

Leonards career....6 years in league

646 rushing yards....848 receiving yards....1 td

Bernard Scott...3 years in league

1035 rushing yards.....165 receiving yards....4 tds

So that is 9 years for Leonard and Scott at 1681 RUYDS and 1013 REYDS and 5 tds....

Yeah, I think my math is real good...and again...please research before you post....it tends to make you look silly.....

You left out the attempts. Math fail.

Our offense relies almost exclusively on a "bell cow" RB. Dallas does not.

See the difference?

Not going to disagree but how do you know that we did not want to run more screens and split carries more this past season.....you had Scott get injured....Peerman/Leonard.....maybe the talent was not there to accomplish those changes or goals....sometimes things happen and you have to change the game plan....if I remember correctly gruden wanted to implement more offense last year....maybe Scott getting hurt put a damper on that and they went back to the ground and pound game.....just a thought....

I guess it's possible. we're pretty stubborn and set in our ways here, though. We've held onto a HC for 3-4 years too long. We don't really like change here for some reason.

Please read my other response also...I believe our full offense was not used last year....Gruden 1st year no training camp...vanilla offense....2nd year...injury to Scott.....Gruden now wants a change of pace back...Jones can be this type of guy.....

BJGE had 278 rush attempts....DeMarco Murray had 211 attempts....Dallas also had a "bell cow"...they just used Jones more because he is a better player than what we had available

Jones career attempts.....569....128 receptions

Scott and Leonard career attempts....426....142 receptions

Jones has a higher YPC 4.8 and YPR than either also at 8.3

Again...I will take Jones and cut Leonard and Scott any day of the week

We definitely need a change. I just think there are better options. Our offense will not utilize a player like Jones correctly.

You never know until you try.....most WC teams use a couple of backs...I just do not think that we have 2 backs to use...especially after Scott got hurt...not saying I am a big Scott fan just that he was that change of pace speedy guy on our team...more so than Leonard and Peerman anyway

There may be better options, but the owner of this franchise has proven year after year, he will not explore every option.

All things considered, I'd be happy with a Jones signing for a reasonable price tag.

Make it bourbon.

I haven't seen a Bengals game sober in over a decade.

Well, now that the ADMIN (people in the know) have gone back 2 months and dug up a "Felix Jones would look great in stripes" thread, I do believe we can all just kiss Bush/Jackson/Bradshaw/Woodhead goodbye.

"Welcome to the Jungle" Mr. Jones

Typical Mike Brown cheap former 1st round bust signing.............Let's all kick back + watch how Hobson spins this one.
