Re: Please run the ball Jay
I do like Gruden and sometimes I have to tell myself that he is just learning too. He is a second year offensive coordinator. I have to agree with the title of this thread though. There are times when Gruden abandons the run for long durations. When you are facing a big rush like they did on Thursday there is nothing more calming to an offense than power runs, screens, bubbles and other short plays. Personally as Graham and Cole started getting confident I thought we didn't do enough off tackle. I sometimes revert back to my old 3 yards and cloud of dust power I football but I would have loved to see a little bit more of Roland at tight end with Charles lined up outside of him and just some basic power plays right at Graham and Cole. Some good old smack you in the face a few times power rushes. Sometimes we negelct to use our size on these speed rushers. You can slow down edge rushers by smacking them with the power game, screens, QB runs up the middle and draws. But the good ole way is to just double team them a few times and knock em on their ***. This once again points to "We need to dictate the game not the other way around" The Patriots don't give a you know what what defense you are in, they are going to do it their way.
