That team compared very favorably to the super bowl Saints team actually.

If Andy Dalton and AJ Green get us to the play-offs in their first two years, that is very promising.....We never had a rookie QB take us to the play-offs in his first two years.....To the Dalton bashers, say what you will, but a QB going play-offs his first two years makes the future look bright. ...I hope it happens.
Actually, the Bengals never go to back to back play-offs....1981 and 1982 with a veteran Ken Anderson. ...Thats about it. We never really had a dynasty run.

Isn't that the year they got like a billion interceptions in every game against the NFC North?

Yup, they picked off McNair 5 times in one game

Wrong. They picked McNair off twice. Beat Tennessee 31-23.
They picked Culpepper of the Vikings off 5 times.

I think they got Culpepper, Orton, and Favre 5 times. I think they had 3 or 4 against the Lions as well.

I believe they were second in the league in forcing turnovers but stillfinished 22nd in scoring defense.
You have to have a pretty lame defense to get that many turnovers and still give up that many points. |

In '05 Deltha O'Neal was the last Bengal defensive player to make the All Pro team. And Tory James had gone to the Pro Bowl the year before. They were a very underrated pair of CBs. They didn't get a lot of hype because the rest of our defense was so bad.

Favre may have given up 5 INTs, but he was still poised for a game winning drive had it not been interrupted by dude.
The defense's philosophy was keep everything in front of you, hope for turnovers, and was content to give up lengthy drives as long as we could keep them to 3 (although much of the time we gave up 7). '08 stunk, but at least the D was more aggressive. |

How come no love for the 90 team that slaughtered the oilers. still had explosive offense my favorite player of all time james brooks a ball hawking secondary with fulcher as a true enforcer. most of the team still intact 2 years removed from a superbowl. only weakness on that team was defensive line. Raiders exploited it which is why we lost.
