Numbers don't lie.
I'm not disputing numbers. I'm just saying that being around those guys, all day every day, Marv would have an opinion on their potential that goes beyond numbers.

Oh boy you brought up numbers not Marvin and he is the one setting the tone for discussion not you. All those guys you named are better they have years under their belt to perfect their craft. I think Marvin is using the eyeball test that goes against PFF and most other stats like cook in the lineup we aren't doing as good or sims back in the rotation and defense plays better.

How many of those were forced to start at a position they didn't play in college? Maybe Marvin took Burfict's ability to thrive at an unfamiliar position into account.

WTS. I just hope Marvin thinks he's a better MLB than the tomato can we currently trot out there.

I can subscribe to that.

However, yet again, Marv thinks Burfict is better than Lewis or Boulware in terms of potential?

Those guys were brimming to death with so much talent, I can't think of anyone with more potential than those two guys (that he coached).

Forse é perche non vedo questo energia; lui sembre un giocatore normale. Lui é contenta quando tutti altri sono contenta, e lui non é contenta quando tutti altri sono triste (I can't think of a suitable word other than sad, lol ).

that's true that numbers don't lie but, what about the fact that he wasn't the starter day one and even after howard went down he had to split time with skuta and rey. also there are more things involved in this than numbers.

Funny, I never knew numbers had nothing to do with potential.

And that second post had all those guys with better numbers and talent than Burfict, so I still cannot grasp what he means by that.

That's all I'm saying. Here's a guy who has shown flashes, but nothing consistent, in one phase of his game, while the others were all amazing in all phases of the game, from day one.

I don't get it (except for Duane Starks ).

I can subscribe to that as well.

Moving him to the middle would be a mistake IMO. Just like with Rey.

Look up the seasons of the players I posted.

Tell me if they started all 16 games, if they played their proper positions, etc.

If you're going to make that argument, Boulware went from an every down DE to a SLB for God's sake. At least Burfict was still playing a LB position.

You don't get your argueing with us as if we are Marvin.... We are merely saying if he sees it then cool. You brought up numbers and now your saying you are a better talent evaluater in front of a computer as opposed to a coach on the field... I would love to see you argue directly with Marvin.

Peter Boulware would be my guess for his personal #2.
The list of players that he has coached is impressive but Lewis and Boulware brought him a SB victory and that team had arguably the greatest D that ever took the field in the playoffs.

I would relish an opportunity to discuss football with Marv

I'm not arguing with you guys as if you're Marvin. I just don't understand how he could say that, with the players he had.

Even if you DON'T use numbers, these guys proved to be miles better than Burfict on the field, and in prep.

I really wasn't going to go there, but yes you're correct about Reed.

You'd think Geno would be in there somewhere.

As for Burfict, I think Marv may be referring to his football IQ and potential.

Ever since Burfict got here, he just seems to "get it". His insticts are impressive, and coaches LOVE that.

#2 is Peter Boulware.

Marvin has mentioned in the past how much he loved the guy.

I was hesitant to post that, but those are simple facts that anyone who has been following this team should know, ESPECIALLY since they're in the same division.

And yes, he has shown instincts, IN THE RUN GAME.

He has been useless rushing the passer, and he's jsut as bad as Rey in coverage (another reason why I wouldn't want him moving to the middle).

What good does knowing Ed Reeds coaches in order do anybody? Are you for real? Why would anybody other than a Raven fan know and/or care to know such an insignificant fact other to nitpick and come off like an *******....as you are.

That said does it really take you two pages to realize that it's almost 100% likely that he is talking about raw talent and potential? One could say that a guy that has seen SOOOO much talent would be the most qualified to say such statements.

Please don't post Rey's final PFF grade. I already know it will be red and something like, -27.5.

I don't really want to be reminded.
