Default Madden 2013 - Franchise Mode?

Did they remove franchise mode? I see that you can play in Career mode as the Coach but is there still an Off Season? That is the whole reason I play the game. Love re signing players, signing Free Agents, as well as doing the draft. I hear that all those offseason things have been removed. If so I am glad I did not waste 60 bucks. I love importing the actual draft and trading draft picks etc. Someone let me know. I have Googled it and seen people saying this but I just can't fathom that they would do that.

Im pretty sure playing as the coach is the same as franchise. I havent played deep into it yet but you cut players, sign, and all that good stuff

I hear it is during the season but there is no offseason portion like a real franchise mode. Here is one review I read.

Quote:
You did lose it. We all did. They advertise this game as having the ‘deepest franchise’ mode ever, however, the term ‘franchise’ NEVER FREAKING EVER appears in the game. There’s no franchise draft at startup available. There’s no offseason. There’s no college draft. There’s no importing draft classes. There’s no free agent signings. There’s no control.
Those are the things I enjoy about the game.

Well fire up an offline season and simulate it if you have a few minutes and see what the offseason offers. Or hopefully someone here will have done an offseason already.

At the beginning of the season it should ask you if you want to import a draft class from NCAA like it always has. This would be a key clue for me.

Yeah that is gone which is a huge bummer. But at least it looks like you can do the reat including the draft.

Another thing I have heard is that you can not play with anyone in franchise mode. IE - If my buddy is over and wants to play along with me Vs the Ravens as my RB. Anyone know this one?

I bought this today. I am returning it tomorrow.
It is horrible. Nothing enjoyable.

Franchise mode was my favorite. Building teams up and all.
This new version makes it so damn difficult and tedious with the new player progression system with "points" and everything is so expensive, trivial and stupid.

And for some reason, Geno Atkins is a 93 or whatnot when I checked rosters outside of the "career" mode. Then after preseason he is an 80.
Maybe I am missing something here. But what the ****.

And I will add that all the little things that made me like the franchise mode (which is gone) are gone also.
  • Fantasy drafts
  • imported drafts
  • quick and easy simulations

Yet, super linebackers, blind DB picks and horrible blocking AI still exist.
Troublesome things since....ever....are still in it though. So no worries there.

Haven't bought Madden in the last few years. Just seemed to get worse and worse from the gameplay to options to bugs. The only thing that seemed to improve was the graphics.

But I still play some of the older ones just for the franchise mode. Sticks if they took it out of the new one, but I'm not surprised.

Past few seasons people have gotten smart and rented NCAA and simmed to generate draft classes or simply downloaded them from the net, so EA needs a different hook, which is why I suspect they don't do this any more. Same as why they killed the player editor, since it allowed people to play with out updated players and rookies without buying the next year's edition.

All boils down top EA making max profit, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Or, put out a product worth $60 and people will pay it, like they did almost a decade ago. Put out crap and charge the same price, expect profits to sag.

I was looking forward to extending my Road to Glory into the NFL, but unlike last year that isn't possible.

I to don't care for this new game. As Berserker said they are trying WAY to hard to make it feel like your the coach. I understand but now it is becoming way to tedious I spend more time trying to do all the crap to get to a game than I do playing a 28 minute game...

And all the other DT's will drop.
I already traded it in. Wasn't worth the time or effort considering game play is the same.

Will not be buying Madden 13 , Played it yesterday no fantasy drafts which is killer because me and a couple buddies do a league of sort . No franchise mode ... yes there is coach mode but it is awful compared to the predecessors . EA will really lose out this year and for good reason .

Lack of franchise mode took the game from an A+ for me (because the game play has improved) to a D instantly. Connected Careers is a waste of time especially coaches mode because it is just a really poor version of franchise mode. The player version is a nice idea but they should have made it more like NBA 2k my player then an actual franchise mode.
