Default Kyries Hebert?

Anyone heard or maybe seen at TC whether Hebert is making strides towards making the roster? I know it was the CFL but this guy looked like a beast up there. Just wondered how he has been looking after the first couple days of camp

In the few clips I saw of him, he looked very athletic
I see him making a push to make this team

I sure hope so. I think he could make a very good and reliable special teams player. Some of the hits he was laying down on people in his highlight videos were very impressive. He isnt afraid to lay into someone thats for sure

i think he will become a valuable special teams player for us, maybe if were lucky we found the next gen indiana jones special teams ace..speculation of course, but from the clips i have seen he seems very rangy and athletic, and the guy can definitely lay the wood. he's one of the players i really look forward to watching in preseason to see what he brings to the table compared to the others fighting for a spot.

We really do need 'hitters' on defense. Our divisional opponents all like to run the
ball and play a physical game. Even if Hebert is a backup, injuries happen to the
starters. I like his experience factor even though it was for a lesser league.

The Safety position is shaping up to be QUITE the battle this year.

I know its not really a part of the game that is analyzed very often, but I think our special teams unit is looking very strong for this season. With players like Hebert, Jones, Kilmer and Lynch who have proven to be hard hitters with fast motors, and also proven on special teams, I think we could really be tough on some of our special teams units this year. Instead of plugging in the #6 and #7 wide receivers on the depth chart on special teams units who haven't made a tackle since high school, we have players like these who know their role and will do whatever to help their team.

Busing looks to be in trouble, although I predicted that injuries would make the safety decisions easier.

Herana-Daze Jones is already dinged up again.

To me Hebert is the biggest wildcard out there. He is huge for a safety (6'3", 220), can run really well, loves to hit, and has a lot of playing experience.

Since I think a lot of people are overrating White and Ndukwe I believe Hebert could actually end up seeing a lot of playing time at safety.

On the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if he was only a special teams player.

good post fred...I think it's nice to see so many guys from many positions being in a fight for a job, it's a problem we haven't had around here in a long time.

Big hitters are completely overrated. I don't care how hard you hit, as long as you bring the ball carrier down.

This year is great because we have to cut talented players. That means we have "unlimited" potential at one position. I can't say that this was the case in previous years at the DB position. Just look at the roster....

1. Hebert signed the richest CFL contract, so he has potential. Hope it translates to the NFL.
2. Jones was a pro-bowl finalist two years in a row, and is proven on special teams. Let's hope he can keep it up.
3. Kilmer showed promise, is fast, and smart, so if he can stay healthy.
4. Busing has stepped up when others have been injured, so it will be interesting to see if he can stick.
5. Lynch is the newest, but also has great potential.

Yes, Jones is injured, but so are TJ and Chad and Odom. Players get injured, so let's be fair. Especially DBs who have a great deal of wear and tear, and camp is hot and humid. Prime conditions for injury.

bengals Re: Kyries Hebert?

We tried to sign Hebert but he signed with the CFL before we could get him, we've been waiting for his contract to expire to bring him down. Based on that I'd say he's got a good chance of making the roster.

We'll keep 9-10 DBs. At CB, we're looking at J Jo, Leon, David Jones, Deltha, and Kilmer. At safety, White and Ndukwe are locks. If Ndukwe wins the starting SS job, and Hebert looks decent in coverage, then Dexter might be released. More likely, Dexter makes the team, with Hebert, Lynch, Indy Jones, and maybe Busing fighting for one or two spots. Castille will make the PS as a CB to replace Deltha in 2009.
