Default Question

In news- notes there was a comment about a preseason game played at the shoe in Columbus can any one tell me what year that was?

THE VOICE: On hand Saturday was the Voice of Ohio, Buckeyes play-by-play man Paul Keels. He works the Bengals preseason games on Cincinnati's Channel 12, a slate that doesn't start until a week from Saturday in a 7:35 p.m. against the Lions from PBS.
Talk about irony. One of the newest members of Ohio's Radio and Television Hall of Fame, Keels, a Cincinnati-Moeller grad that made good, watched his first pro football games in Ohio Stadium when the Bengals played the Browns in the preseason. "The biggest cheers came when somebody from Ohio State did something. No matter for which team," Keels said.

The Bengals and Browns used to play a preseason game in Columbus each year. I went to one and I think it was back in the early or mid 1970's.

Thats the time frame I recall also. Seems strange that you can not find a date anywhere. I am hoping that one of the super mods with thier connections can get us a year.

I went to one of those games as a kid with my Dad and Grandpa....I was born in 1961 so it had to have been late 60's. It was my most memorable football fan moment actually (aside formthe exact date!) as my family used to be Browns fans until the Bengals arrived. I was still a HUGE Leroy Kelly fan at the time and at halftime, we lined the tunnel leading into the locker rooms and I reached down for a high five or something from the players and big old #44 Leroy Kelly stopped, reached up and grabbed my little hand and shook it.....very cool for a little kid. He's always been my favorite Brown and always will be.

WHODEY!!!!!!!
