No, its not official, but i really do believe the Hiring of Cowher by the Browns is just around the corner. Call it a strong hunch if you will. Your thoughts?

Yes, wouldn't he rather come to the Bengals?
![]() Only, of course, provided that Marty Schottenheimer doesn't take the job first. |

He realizes he's in Canton with 149 wins and his post season record. He MIGHT comeback but it's got to be the right situation. He has his daughters going to college in NC, so I'm thinking he would go there to be close to them. Plus he wants to be able to win - and that leaves Cleveland out. He doesn't want a project he has to build from the ground up, and he wouldn't want to play the Steelers twice a year. |

Actually, I get the feeling he would relish the opportunity to play the Steelers twice a year. Not that he left on bad terms or anything like that; I just think he would love the chance to show his old team he's still a good coach (though, he would have to be a great coach to take Cleveland and beat Pittsburgh).

I think his best option would be Carolina Panthers, but I don't think that job is even in the air at this time.

Cowher still owes us a year on his contract. I have no problem with him singing with Cleveland as long as we get their first round pick. Cowher has already said he won't be coaching next year under any circumstances. Sloppy is probably right though, throw enough money at him and he'll do it.
It doesn't concern me at all though. |

Re: Cowher to be offered HC job with Browns
I don't think that Cowher would come back to coaching. He left for a reason and I believe that he is happy with his job now. He can spend more time with his family before his kids are to old to watch grow up. If he really wanted to stay in coaching he never would have left the Steelers.

if cowher does end up coaching the browns i will be very concerned.
he's a good coach and they have the money to go after any free agent |

the question for bengal fans, is when cleveland signs cowher, will mike brown understand a guy like that would never work for a guy like him, regardless of the money.

At the request of Mike Brown, I'd like to inform you that he can't actually pay you in cash (after all he's got imaginary free agents to pay for) but he's offering a pleasant penny candy package complete with an obsolete Chad Johnson jersey. ![]() As coach your responsibilities would include: 1. Smiling as Mike Brown undermines your authority. 2. Ignoring glaring needs due to a stubborn egocentric owner, who refuses to admit when he's wrong. 3. Giggling at all press conferences. |

Cowher's legacy is in PIT, right now. Outside of some really crusty fans on a few harsh sites, Cowher for the most part is well respected and liked by the less die-hard fans. But he would be viewed as a traitor going to a division rival and so I don't think he will do it.
Plus, CIN and CLE are coaching holes. LOL, think Belichik in CLE. If Cowher learned anything from that SB it's that he needs to have more respect for the QB position. I still think a place with a young promising QB out on the east coast would be ideal for him. Then again, how much can legacy mean when Bret Favre would consider going to MIN in a year GB has SB hopes? Now, MIN....There could be a shocker for Cowher. That's shaping up to be a perfect fit, but I don't think they'll be looking for a coach. SD could be a possibility. CAR, obviously if Fox doesn't turn it around. Unless Cowher wants to take-on an impossible rebuilding project out of ego, he's going to stick with what he knows: running and defense. So that takes CLE and CIN out of the question.

I think that the talent situations of both the Browns and the Bengals are not too far off from being pretty good. Right now, they lack leadership. IMHO, the problem that will keep Cowher out of Cincinnati is not talent - it's ownership. Cleveland, I think, is a different story. If he does decide to come back into it, I would not be surprised at all if he went to Cleveland. |

Legacy ? Traitor ? Just words slim . In the world of sports today nothing matters but the almighty dollar and it comes down to who would want to throw the most at him . Of the teams you mentioned MAYBE Carolina would have a little more pull than the others based on location . Of course IMO he would be crazy to take any coaching job when he has a cushy announcer job and he is getting paid nicely to just talk about football and no aggrevation . |
