WOW. these two guys really had nice games today and show why Marvin Lewis has showed so much patience in the pair -- especially Chatman, who has been cut and re-signed a couple of times.. Housh and Chatman are a nice 1-2 punch.. Do they make Chad Johnson expendable?

It was nice to see them play well. I really have hope for Perry!

Althoug ni will say it was humorous to watfh Chatman fall down when he could have broke a long one on the catch and on a KO return

I think Chatman as would any 3rd receiver found it easier to get open, I think that this team should be running nothing but 3wr sets, including on running plays, although CHAD and Chatman **** at blocking. You could move TJ to the slot, who isn't afraid to block or go over the middle, overload CJ's side, with TJ in the slot and use him as a blocker. I did see more 3WR sets than before, and am happy about that, thats should be all they run, COATS *****, so forget 2TE sets. We don't have a fullback, so open it up, spread the freaking field, they played well with the exception of the 3rd quarter they seemed to come out after 1/2 time flat, how do you do that, you just outplayed the superbowl champs in the first half, and then you come out in the 3rd quarter flat? What are these coaches telling these players in the locker room. 3rd quarters for the Bengals always ****, what goes on in that locker room?

I always hated when people on this board talked about Chatman stinking when it seemed all they ever tried was throwing bombs to him and coming up empty. I always said the Bengals are using him wrong. Get him the ball in space and let him make plays with his feet. That's what they did today and it worked out great.
But you're right, he did probably leave a TD or a huge gainer on the field by not being able to keep his feet under him a couple of times. |

I don't quite agree with this. They need to pound the ball and be patient with developing the weapons other than the wideouts. They do not have the defense to depend quick strikes and finesse. That defense will wear down and be exposed if they can't grind it out and wear down opponents' defenses. The lack of ball-control continuity on offense has been more of a problem than the defense for the last couple of years. When you're spending that much money on the offensive side of the ball, you have to look at a number of key games as being primarily a failure of the offense to capitalize on defensive efforts that were good enough to win. You've got to stay with the physical mindset. |

Chatman really impressed me today. It's going to be hard to take him out and put Henry in if he's playing so well.

Agreed. It was nice to see Chatman do what we always thought he could do. If he keeps playing like this then maybe eight five will be the one who should sit when Henry comes back.
