Keith Rivers was placed on Football Outsiders' All Rookie Team. Doesn't mean too much other than the fact that he is getting props for 6 games, which is pretty cool.
http://footballoutsiders.com/walkthr...okie-team-2008 "Linebacker: Curtis Lofton, Falcons. Matt Ryan got most of the attention, but the Falcons rookie class was sensational, with Lofton starting all 16 games and Sam Baker emerging as a starter at left tackle. Lofton, who had 94 tackles, had the benefit of learning from veteran defenders like linebackers Keith Brooking and Michael Boley, as well as safety Lawyer Milloy. Milloy called the rookie class "a group of guys that I think is going to be around for a long time because they just get it. You never know what you're going to get, as far as character issues. We're just fortunate that we got it right." Linebacker: Jared Mayo, Patriots. The Defensive Rookie of the Year, by a landslide. Mayo registered 139 tackles, set a team record with 23 tackles in one game against the Jets, and started 16 games in one of the NFL's most complex defenses. "We've asked a lot of him, and from Day One he's really been a well-prepared, very mature player who can do a lot of things: play the running game, play in the passing game, blitz, helps us in the kicking game," said Bill Belichick of his top draft choice. Linebacker: Keith Rivers, Bengals. Rivers was off to a great start before getting hurt in Week 6. His efforts –- 37 tackles, an interception against the Cowboys -- were enough to make him the runner-up in the league's Defensive Rookie of the Year balloting. OK, so it was only with one vote..." |

Re: Keith Rivers makes the cut...
Well, IMO..........if it were not for the dirty punk from Pittsburgh, he would have won rookie of the year. That is alright because it all comes around and Ward is going to get what he gives. Just hope it is Rivers that gets to give it.

I believe Whines Hard has his days numbered. We're about to see how effective a WR can be with half the league "looking" for him.....

I hope he is a wrecking ball next season.

Re: Keith Rivers makes the cut...
Good to see, hopefully Rivers will blossom into a true impact player this year. The sky's the limit for the kid.

Something i have noticed is that every time Ward annoys/angers a team then the next time the team plays Holmes gets slaughtered. Poor Holmes always getting what Ward deserves

Hines Ward is 32, he's going to start becoming a non-factor soon anyway. Rivers will get him back by leading our defense to victory next year.
Dig this, the Steelers have 5 UFA Olinemen, including 3 of their starters. Also two of their backup QB's and a starting WR are UFA's. I'm curious to see what they do to compensate, especially on the Oline which was their only thing that was even close to a weakness this year. I'm sure they will make all the right moves and we will probably hardly make any moves at all. |
