Lightbulb Purify the Next Pro-Bowler

Maurice Purify was signed to the Practice Squad after the season ended. Purify went to Nebraska which coincidently is my fav. college team. He racked up some major stats. Go to Youtube and look at his highlites. We had Zach Taylor on QB which meaning if CP was the QB he would be a major threat. That is if he flourishes like he did at Nebraska which I think he has the potential to.

Purify could be the second string WR behind TJ. Then have Caldwell be third. Then we'd have the same powerful offence we did in 2005.

He won't have more than ten catches next season. That's my guess.

Purify would be the #2 if he was deserving which he isn't. Caldwell is a much
better WR than Purify. He has better hands and the little I saw from Purify is not good. He
dropped some passes that should have been caught and he rounds off routes. He is on the practice squad for a reason.

I would like to see him play well for us,but to say he should be our #2 WR behind T.J is far fetched.

This classic.

If Purify makes the roster and was even activated for a single game that would be an accomplishment for him.

#2 on the depth chart.... classic

Pro bowl? Purify? I doubt the guy even makes the 53 man roster.

bengals Re: Purify the Next Pro-Bowler

Usually when the bengals sign a practice sqad player/or College Free angent they usually dont get oppurtinities to play on the field.Unless we cut Chatman,Henry gets in trouble,Holt isnt tendered a contract,if chad get traded. I like Urritia too but we wont see him any time soon either.(whatever his name is)

Hey now, don't be so hard on Purify. According to the talk last off-season he was impressive in training camp (behind only Maxwell; who got hurt, got IR'd, got cut and than got signed by the Ravens).

I don't know a lot more about him than that (and I doubt many of you do either). But as long as either Chad or TJ isn't on the team next year (and it's almost certain that one of them won't be), than I wouldn't be suprised to see Purify get a roster spot.

Purify as a heck of a hill to climb if he's going to become the next pro bowler.

This.

My ten catch max is setting the bar way too high.

Here is is draft profile from lat year.....

Maurice Purify, WR, Nebraska

Height & Weight: 6'4 - 210 lbs.

NFL Combine Results
40-Yard Dash 4.53
Vertical jump 28

2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

When it comes to talent, there's no question about it with Purify. He was one of the top JUCO prospects in the country when he signed with Nebraska out of City College of San Francisco and backed it up in 2006, when he caught 34 passes for 630 yards and seven touchdowns for Nebraska's Cotton Bowl team.

In 2007, Purify was one of the bright spots for Nebraska at the end of their disappointing 5-7 season, recording 24 catches for 402 yards and six touchdowns in the final three games to finish with 57 catches, 814 yards, and nine touchdowns, with eight of those nine scores coming in the last five games.

Purify has terrific size, athleticism, and has good speed as well (he ran a 4.44 40 at Nebraska's Pro Day). However, the off-field issues are where the questions are with Purify. He was arrested twice during the summer of 2007 and was arrested in March, along with offensive lineman Carl Nicks, another NFL Draft prospect.

He'll likely be a mid-round selection, at best, but if Purify gets in the right environment (and can stay out of trouble), this is a guy who could really be a success on the next level.

I really don't think he will be better than Caldwell myself but he I DO have his autograph when I went to camp last year. Pass that around whatever you are smoking and I hope your #20 is a little better prediction.

Purify looked good in mini camps compared to the other bums participating last year. When he got a change in pre season i seen him finish 2 nice blocks on the outside and he also caught some balls. I was hoping he would make the practice squad and I was disappointed he was cut from it last season. He is back now and I think he will make the 53 man roster this year over Chatman and Holt (whos a free agent i believe?). He is not going to be the next CJ by any means but he surprised me with his well rounded play last spring. He also stayed out of trouble all last season which is an improvement, albeit a small one haha

cheers
